i wouldnt call for miles head but i wouldnt be satisfied with this team winning the chicken bowl so something like that

if we go to the chic fi a bowl and finish like 10th with 3 losses somehow then that's one thing.

If we go to and win the Sugar Bowl with an 11-2 record and finish 5th that's something else.

1 loss is the only thing acceptable IMO

since i think there is only 1 team in the country that is anywhere near close to us talent wise

If we lost to bama. I can't even think that way. I couldn't deal with it.

With the players we've lost this yr, I'd be satisfied with a sugar bowl win. We're already without 2 starters on each side of the ball.

If you put it like that bama lost like 9 players on defense.

It's so weird 3 years ago we thought this was our best year and in hindsight 2011 was a we didn't even know it till during the season.

Yes if LSU could somehow beat USC badly in a bowl game (not sure how that would happen though).

Our fanbase is filled with delusional fricktards. Sad, really.

Where do you get "too much talent" to finish less than 5th? We certainly don't finish much above 5th in recruiting rankings annually. Our defense is full of first year starters, some true frosh even. First year starting QB, and a bunch of slot receivers, all first year starters but one. Injury to LT (best OL, first round grade prior to injury), Lost entire starting secondary except Reid, including nickle back. Lost LB leadership. No TE that can catch a football.

So basically, we have a stable of backs and a great DL (with a bunch of first year starters there too...). Sure, we should absolutely win it all or it's a wasted season.

Maroons.

Those players were never apart of this year's bama team

Of course. Any fan who is not satisfied with a top 5 finish is a shitty, shitty fan. There's nothing wrong at all with demanding excellence, in fact it's a good thing. But guys a top 5 finish is excellence. We all want to win the SEC and the Natty every year but any season that's a top 10 finish type season or a BCS Bowl season can't be defined as anything but a successful year.

Truth!

Let's be a little rational here, and maybe look at other schools, even SEC schools, that weren't satisfied with what they had.

Tennessee and Auburn, for starters. The Vols went a decade being a top 5 team, and won a title. People got obsessed about how LSU, Auburn, Florida and Georgia got, basically, to their level, or maybe a bit higher (but not much). So they wailed about Fulmer destroying the program and ran him off. And now they haven't seen a ranking in a couple of years.

Auburn- Tuberville had them neck and neck with us. We'd win the odd years, they'd win the even. We won a BCS with Saban, and they didn't, even though they had an undefeated team and Nick didn't. The Powers That Be over there couldn't wait to axe him, even sneaking a date with Petrino and then calling it off. Les came here and won another title and they went nuts. And don't give me any crap about Saban going to Bama, Tuberville beat Nick here plenty, and owned Bama for a decade. Public support and they'd still be a major team every year. They finally got him to leave, and sure they finally won- with Cam, and he ain't coming back. And now Auburn has slid behind Miss St.

There are good teams out there. We won't be #1 often, but we do seem to be somewhere around the top 5 every season. Keep that up and we'll get another. Run this guy out of town for not winning it all, and we might end up like Rocky Top or War Eagle. Trust me, I remember when just getting ranked was something to be hoped for; nobody wants to go back to that again

What an awful question to even ask. frick no I would not be satisfied with anything less than 14-0. But that is because we still have a chance to do that.

I am completely satisfied with our 11-2 2010 season but I wasn't fricking satisfied after losing to Cam Newton and Ryan fricking Mallett.

Ask this question in 2 years when people have a chance to reflect.

this is possibly the worst analogy i've ever heard. you have the wrong idea; one doesn't "order" football rankings.

Proud of the team, but honestly would be a little disappointed. I was looking forward to the 2012 season before we played Oregon last year. The expectations are high this year, but not so high our team can't accomplish them. Just enjoying every week this year. I got so caught up in the looming Bama game last year, I didn't enjoy the rest of the season as much as I should have.

So was I. I envisioned a team with Brockers as a JR, Mo as a SR, TM7, Faulk, so on and so on. Didn't happen. I had no clue anyone named Jalen was gonna be starting or even playing a lot. I had no idea Corey White and Evan Washington were gonna be gone, leaving a void at LT backup spot. I had no idea any of these freshman LBs (who weren't even here yet) were gonna have to play.

But I'm STILL looking forward to the 2012 season! It's actually going on right now...literally. Don't miss it. It's really pretty cool to watch guys like the Jalens, Eugene, Kwon and Debo, Ronald Martin, develop as guys that will make NEXT year a very good team as well. And so on...and so on.

Winningest SEC program since Miles arrived, and people still aren't "satisfied". Ridiculous.

No, but with the media hating on LSU all this would require is one loss to Bama. We'd miss the SECCG, the NC because we don't get a mulligan, and probably end up ranked lower than several other one loss teams despite our strength of loss.

I just pretty much think Tennessee "fell out of their prime" because of the general unrest surrounding the program, which was because Urban revived Florida and Georgia made some strong runs with Richt. Their loss to us in 01 was worse than if we'd lost to UGA last year, and some other things. People forgot/ignored that they played us tight in the 07 SEC Title game, and Fulmer was already on the way out.

Auburn, I dunno, trophy envy I guess. I know I hated Tuberville, because no matter how good we were, they would beat us and win the West when we played over there. Maybe Tubs was banging the Pres' wife or something, but the fact of the matter was, Auburn was a team you could count on to go play in a bowl and kick somebody's arse. They helped build the SEC reputation, because while LSU and Fla were winning national titles, Auburn was out there (with Georgia and Tennessee) providing the depth we brag about.

So right now, people are stressed because in 09/10 we were the depth behind Fla and Bama. Well, Bama's on a roll, but so are we.

Being at the level we currently are isn't to be taken for granted. I spent the 80's being proud of Tiger teams that played top 5 teams well, but lost. I sat through Curley's utter destruction of the program, and was grateful when Dinardo was able to get us to Shreveport a couple times. Saban took it to the next level, but outside of 03, we were top 10 or so under him. Les sure seems goofy, but he's taken us to the next level higher- a title, 2 trips to the title game, and a bunch of finishes in the top 5. Bama and Fla have won multiple BCS titles during his run, and so did Auburn... so we hate him for not winning more, instead of respecting that he has maintained a top program despite overwhelming competition. We have dickheads putting signs in their yards demanding he be fired because of a 13-1 season.

Prime? Nebraska was in their prime about 25 seasons. Would whoop your arse and make you say thank you. They won, what, 3 titles in that stretch? 4 maybe? shite happens, like Oklahoma being in their conference. Didn't make them any less of a team you'd wish was your own. LSU is that way now. Be proud of our Tigers. They represent us well!
