Kevin Steele. Before you guy's go crazy that he hasn't coached db's in a long time, I think this is chavis's hire.

i think miles let's chavis pick his man. They played and coached together at Tenn. I think their relationship is why he becomes the man.

whomever it is, i'd have to trust chavis. You just don't have as much success for as long as he has with out knowing what you are doing/whom you can trust.

ok, steele was a player why chavis was a g.a. at tenn.

it's the relationship i'm talking about. if chavis is comfortable with the guy, knows the guy, he's probably going to go with him.

They're from Dillon, SC. They're tight.

we need someone who is at least as good a recruiter as he is a DB coach; else we'll be behind the 8-ball when competing against that school that wears red.

I hope not.

Bring him in to coach TEs, though.

Connections or not, the guy has 1-2 yrs of DB coaching experience 20+ yrs ago. That's hard to overlook

I also think it'll be Steele

one would think, however, if you look at coaches background, it doesn't appear coaches feel it's a big deal.

coaches hire other coaches all the time that have not coached the specific position. if you look at coaches bio's, most have coached multiple positions even offense to defense and vice versa over their careers.
