Yes, it's UNO, but he's the head guy over there. Very good first stepping stone for him. He did pretty well for himself last year at a program that has been abysmal in the past.

while I disagree with this for the most part, there are probably high school coaches out there making almost as much as Dean

Except, in the case of UNO, Dean's job might disappear completely if UNO shuts down the baseball program, which isn't out of the question.

I'm thinking maybe CPM knew about this last weekend. Did he not go to Chicago for the World Series last weekend. Could he have possibly talk to his friend Randy Bush about the job either for himself or maybe someone else in the Cubs minor league system. Didn't the pitching coach Adam Dunn come from the Baltimore Orioles minor league system.

So LSU fans are happy to hire anyone who bat above .350 in Alex Box before to be our hitting coach.

No, I think LSU fans are happy to hire a former player who has done a fairly remarkable job as a head coach at a program with limited recruiting base and limited facilities. That shouldn't be hard to understand.

Let him go. I hope he has success (just not against us), and when CPM retires, we go get him back. Boom, Bob's your uncle.

for Blake Dean to bail on UNO right now would look horrible for him. I dont even think PM has the nerve to offer him the job. I think LSU sits tight with what they have

Todd Walker where are you?

Todd Walker would be a horrible hire. He is not a people person and is a big prick! Andy Cannizaro and Blake Dean are more alike both are great motivators, recruiters and most important are people persons.

Mainieri was contacted today by 10 current college head coaches asking to be considered for the open assistant coaching position. Also numerous current assistant coaches contacted him today.

You'd have to think there will be substantial interest in the position. Losing AC sucks, but like someone said last night, it could work out in that if he does well he will be among the favorites to replace PM down the road.

Lots of good young assistants out there to consider
