Let's say Mainieri throws Hess and UF only comes out that inning with 1 run. (Let's estimate 9-12 pitches) Bush starts the 5th with a clean slate. Smart decision or not?

And does LSU come away with a win?

Or you pull the guy before he walks the bases loaded. Problem solved. Don't need your closer in the 4th.

Dunn should have come out after the 5th ball in a row to talk to RR. Bush should have replaced him after walking the 2nd guy.

1st and 2nd with 1 out is a better situation for Bush.

It was the biggest stress situation of the game. That's why he's in the pen. But yeah, I agree Manineri should have came out instead of Dunn there.

Are you asking if we should've brought in our closer in the 4th inning, in a game that we hadn't scored a run?

Dunn wanted to pull reynolds at that time. Mainieri talked him out of it.

You can create possible scenarios in your mind until game time tomorrow. It won't change anything.

I mean I think LSU probably wins this game if they shut down that inning tonight. Hess gave LSU the best shot to do that. You bring your best relief pitcher on to stop the bleeding and wouldn't waste him if he's only being use to get 2 outs.

Hindsight is 20/20. I think Dunn was right as to when Reynolds should have come out. But, easy to say looking back. No way should Hess have come in in 4th...or at any time with way Newman was pitching. Last game, Hess looked tired and didn't have what we are used to seeing. (Threw 94 rather than 97 or 98) Hess needs to rest, because he will be crucial in the next two..and we need him at his best.

only scenario I'm really wish had changed was someone covering 2nd base on the sac fly so that 3rd run doesn't score on the ground rule double

would've gone to extras
