25% of the population prefer basketball over all sports.

something over 50% prefer football.

baseball is only second in a few schools.
You'd probably get people in Irvine to say baseball is #1.
Does Irvine even play football? Does Irvine play D III hoops or D II?

Baseball's popularity at LSU is simply a reflection of its success.

If the basketball program was as consistently successful, I contend, it would be much more popular than baseball is currently.

Nationally, college women's basketball gets more publicity than college baseball. Think of all the time, money and resources ESPN designates to women's hoops compared to baseball.

Only people in the South and certain schools give much care for baseball.

I agree somewhat, but i also believe that LSU baseball has many hardcore fans that will follow regardless of the success............Basketball has MANY bandwagon fans (like me) that will jump on board when the success is there.

re: If College baseball is so popular

Call me a 'Tard. I'd rather watch NCAA Baseball over MLB, NBA, NCAA hoops and most non-Saint NFL games. I didn't watch a single March Madness game, but caught a Big10 BB game the other day.

My only concern about where NCAA Baseball is nationally is to hopefully get more future TV coverage- especially SEC series.
