I don't have a dog in the fight but if he does end up as LSU coach it's worth watching

He's almost 60. But his team plays hard on defense. Some really good athletes that can just ball. I've been following them since the Mich. State beat down last year. Fun to watch. If we would have hired him instead of f'ing Trent Johnson, or even when Jones was hired.

I just really dont get what changed from his first decade or so there to the last 5 years. I mean he was captain average at MTUS for a decade then all of sudden is making the NCAAT more than he is missing it and actually beating some really good teams.

That's a good question. No one I've talked to really followed MTSU before they turned the corner, but I wonder if there was a change in coaching or recruiting philosophy that helped him get things going. If so, kudos to him for making the right adjustments.

The guy had a terrible season at A&M and it took him 10 seasons to build up Middle Tennessee and he's 57. Not the guy we need.

What changed is conference USA doesn't have cincy, Memphis, UConn, etc there anymore. Regardless, he has a good team.

It cracks me up how people want him. He was basically Johnny Jones for 10 years. Beats a big name program one time and all of a sudden is uber popular here as a coaching hire.

Way to settle guys

Way better than what we've had in the last 2 hires.

I don't see how him being 57 is that big of a deal. He could easily coach LSU for the next decade, if successful.

The answer is that conference USA isn't what it used to be... all the teams left for the big east/ aac and mtsu was left with the rejects

I'm not advocating for Kermit, but come on, the dude has beaten more than just his own conference. Weak argument.

Why would anyone want this guy? It's taken him 20 years to even be mentioned for a power 5 job again and the only ppl interested seem to be rant fans. Nobody els will take him I promise you that.

This is what makes him the perfect Alleva hire. That and a binder.

Is this game an elimination game in the "LSU coaching candidates" bracket?

Of course it is...MTSU wins this game there will be 20 threads started between now and their second round game wanting this dude to coach. If they lose there will be 20 not wanting him. It's the rant way.
