I Think Saturday Night Was The Spark...

of a great ride we are about to experience as LSU fans. I think that loss and the impending win this weekend will mark the beginning of a win streak that will not end until the 2014 season.
We, for 55 out of 60 minutes, beat "one of the best Bama teams of all-time". The team that is supposed to be NFL-worthy, got owned in every way but the scoreboard.
As to the reasons for "the Spark":
(1) A youthful LSU team proved to itelf that it can beat any college team in the nation...despite losing honeybadgers, all-american tackles, running backs and linebackers...we can beat anyone...the experience...both mentally and physically...gained Saturday night will act as a propellent for the impending run;
(2) There were program sustaining, and even altering, recruits in the stadium Saturday night that will be future Tigers that will both contribute in the impending run towards a national title and sustain the program for a half decade to come; and
(3) The Tiger fanbase realized that we can be that good...as a team, as a fanbase and a college football force...the ills of January 9th were oddly purged by a home loss.
We are about to win out the rest of the season, including a bowl. We are going to run the table next year and win the title. I feel it down in my plums...

Now this...this is something that I agree with.
I like you sir.

I actually kind of agree with this. We have absolute studs coming in next year, got a lot of the young pups invaluable experience this year and the 2014 class looks to be ridiculous. Nothing but good times ahead.

Because of this game...January 9th and the beating we took is a distant memory.
Because of this game...we MAY land Gilmore, Beckwith, Williams and Ricky Seals-Jones...four players that can contribute immediately and are program sustaining future first rounders.
Because of this game...Mettenberger proved to himself, the coaches and the fanbase that he can be as good as any QB in college football...he can be that good.
Because of this game...we have an offensive line that will be proven, deep and experienced for years to come.
Because of this game...the college football world knows they cannot sleep on LSU as a program...the reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.
I'll say it again, the ills of January 9th have been purged by a home loss to Bama.
Our best days are right around the corner...the golden age of LSU football lives on.

They will be a perfect combination of angry and hungry until their next title. The golden age becomes the rage age.

If this team plays the rest of the year the way they played Saturday night, nobody comes within three touchdowns of us. This might be one of the only times I've ever looked at a loss and thought, "Damn, we're going to be good."

Amen.
Very painful to think about and still makes me sick to my stomach to think we lost the game on that night in that stadium. But driving home to Houston with my wife, did my grieving by talking about how good this team will be next season and what this team has proven this year.

I think that we finish the year this year in the Top 3 in the national ranking...maybe even top 2 depending on factors out of our control.
I would not be surprised to see us preseason #1 next year.
We are going to be so nasty on defense. Our liabilities this year, will turn into strengths next year. Our strengths will not be greatly diminished...if diminished at all.
We finish this season a respectable 11-2. We finish next season undefeated.
Just as a sword is birthed from a fiery pit, this LSU team was born-again Saturday. It is gonna be a fun ride.

Agreed. Plus, if you look at the production drop off from Sonic Sam and Mingo this season, we probably won't drop off much in the D.
I couldn't be prouder for our team for what they showed. Alabama got embarrassed on the field even though they came out with the W.

I think the Bama players were shocked they won the game...as evidenced by AJ crying like a woman.

how great is the OL performing, Mettenberger had a great game, the LBers (especially Minter are playing great), etc. LSU outplayed Alabama all over the field until the breakdowns in the last 1.5 minutes
