I think Bruce Pearl would make for a solid hire for next basketball coach

yes he is going to push the envelope in recruiting, but...
- he is available now
- he knows the SEC
- he is not afraid to go after the best players and McDonald's All Americans
- brings an exciting brand of basketball and alot of enthusiasm
- built UT into a consistent NCAA Tournament team year in year out that competed for sweet 16s and elite 8s
I think Jeff Capel, the Northern Iowa coach, and Scott Drew would be solid options after that
- he is available now
- he knows the SEC

I would take Pearl over what we have now, absolutely. But there may be safer choices available.
I have followed Pear relatively closely while he was at Tennessee. I believe he's a decent guy who would appreciate another chance and could keep it clean. Hell, there is no guarantee that any coach will be clean going forward.
The show cause stuff is the issue. We may be a year too early. Maybe Alleva can set something up for next year. With Pearl you get results.

There is nothing that says he can't come back and do it the right way. Somebody will get a good coach someday.
I realize the negatives with Pearl. I usually err on the side of avoiding problems. But the risk of getting another dud is low. He's a proven coach.
