I think Blakeney will declare for the draft.

His second half season surge was amazing. Also didn't Adam Silver pass a new combine format for this upcoming draft? I believe it will allow players to attend the combine, receive an evaluation then decide whether they want to declare or not. The scouts clearly will have noticed how he killed the second half of the season on both sides of the ball. He's going to destroy the athletic testing. That pretty much leaves the shooting drills and a couple of scrimmages. I really feel he's going to boost his stock to late first round and a team that is desperate for a scorer with some upside will take him. Frankly, I wouldn't want to come back and play for Jones.

I hope he stays as well, but that is like wishing career suicide on him. I'd rather go to the D-league or improve fundamentals over seas, then go to the NBA over dealing with Jones.

What's pathetic is using racism for the reason that people want Jones fired like you have this past week. Suprised you haven't used that yet in this thread.
That's what Jones should be coaching... though they probably wouldn't play defense, stand around on offense, have trouble inbounding, shooting free throws, you know, like his college team.

He put together a string of 6 very good performances.
Other than two other games against MSU & USC, he was just a solid contributor.
A handful of big games doesn't make a player NBA ready.
At 6'3-4 he's not going to be able to just stand outside the arc & shoot over bigger guards.
Blakeney needs to comeback & show he can consistently play well over a whole season.

Wouldn't shock me if he left either. If Ben Simmons hadn't signed here LSU may not have been in on him. He1st committed to Louisville (Boy does He look smart now not signing there now). Blakeney and Simmons played on the same AAU squad. Blakeney showed growth from start to finish this year. Shot selection was better and his scoring went up. The guy will be a pro. If he wants to be a lottery pick he stays. But it might be smart to enter the draft where a good team picks him lower in round one. If I were him I would at least get the eval from the NBA.

When did the change take place where it's always about the players and not the team? Maybe it's just people who post on the Rant. As the season went on I saw many good qualities in Blakeney and he became one of my favorite players because he was one of the few who had some fire and gave effort.
The potential is there but has he reached it? Nope, just scratced the surface. I suppose he could go Europe or D league and work on his game and make the NBA that way but as an LSU team fan I hope he comes back.
The reasons he is not ready for NBA are not good enough dribbler and ball handler, which at 6'3" he will have to be great at, and not enough ways to score besides dunk and standing jump shot. He needs more facets to his offensive game and continued improvement on the defensive.

I think Johnny gets a lot of guys to stay. He knows it's make or break next year and he will need a lot of them to return

Yeah by Alleva. Btw Jones hasn't been fired. Almost everyone on this board was like eff Miles. He has led the team to 2 championships. You can't compare the two.

The fans have been tearing Mile up for years, even when he made to the major bowl games. Jones received a great deal of support when he first came because he was an improvement over Johnson. He has not delivered. Go find some more lame excuses.
