And it was MSU not LSU. But will any true Negatigers admit it? I suspect NOT

Don't compare LSU to MSU. Compare LSU to Alabama. Alabama is your bench-marker, not MSU.

How close is LSU's football program to Alabama's? That is the issue.

Er, MSU literally called the EXACT SAME offensive game that les and cam produced when they faced Bama.

It's an indictment of stone age offense.

You can't impose your will on a brick wall.

Dantonio pooped the bed in first half with the run heavy possessions.

Name me any program that compares to them with Saban Should we just quit? Point is, it isn't Les' fault and at least he has beaten him a couple of times

It isn't Les' fault? It is his job to try to win every game he coaches. This requires being able to adapt and think dynamically when your opponent starts to beat you. Coaches have to have several ways to get the job done.

You are getting confused by the clutter of emotion in your head. It doesn't matter how bad MSU looked tonight.

What matters is to set Alabama's effort tonight as the bench-mark and implement the plan to match and exceed that effort. That's what I hope the LSU football coaches are going to do as a result of this game -- make a plan to get LSU at the level of where Alabama is now.

Son, at least you seem to have accepted the probability that Les has won his last game against Saban. I'm with you on that.

My problem is that, in my deepest sincere belief, Coach Miles knows it too, and -- it really doesn't bother him at all. Now, that's sad, but true.

Take care and Happy New Year, Baw ! Go out and meet a girl and give her a kiss, and, if she turns out to be a guy, don't react with violence, just laugh it off because, after all, you are in New Orleans and some of those damn trannies really know how to put on that make-up!! That's what the NOPD told me.

OP makes a point. There were plenty on this board ready to hire Dantonio if Miles was fired. No way Mich St makes playoff if they had to play Bama during the season. Coaching may not be our problem. I agree that our goal is to match Bama's success, but that may not be realistic. It enrages and frustrates me, but Bama is on another frickin level compared to the rest of college fb. We just get our nose rubbed in it more than teams that play in Big 10 or other conferences.

Plain and simple - we just don't get the players that Saban gets. We only have two guys (Godchaux and Beckwith) who would barely sniff the field on their defensive interior. Further, we have a three-year starter (LaCouture) that has made 17 solo tackles in 37 career games. I watched him the other night; he's as slow as a seven-year itch. He's not gonna tackle anybody unless they come right at him.

The answer is, about as close as any program in the country.

Key would be an LB in their system, but he could definitely get snaps there. Debo probably could too, but he would probably be a safety there. However, your point still stands. The recruiting drop-off at the tail end of Chavis' tenure is killing us right now. Thankfully, things are looking up starting with this year's recruiting class. O is definitely bringing in a better class of front 7 player.

It seemed like for as much as Mark D. is praised for what he has done at MSU, he had his team poorly prepared for the game. And the game plan seemed familiar to what Mileshas used, what four straight times, unsuccessfully vs. Bama.

I felt for MSU, since their coach really did not have anything remotely resembling an innovative game plan it would take to win.

And the refs leaned toward Bama-clearly missing a grounding penalty vs. the Tide while eagerly throwing the fly on Michigan St. when Cook grounded it, among other thngs. But Bama would have won anyway. Mich St. was not ready.

Louisiana has a problem as well as coach Miles. LSU has to go out of state to even think about a decent quarterback recruit. The highest nationally rated high school for Louisiana this year is Zachary and they're no 70. There are very few highly rated recruits (5 in the top 100. This is a typical year.
Bench mark and effort my arse!

What's a coach to do?

There is a huge gap of talented athletes between MSU and LSU. That's the key.

That QB from TT had one offer and he kept his team competitive, by himself. We don't need a 5 star to beat Bama. We need one who can dink and dunk and not hurt us. We haven't had that sine Flynn. Who Miles didn't recruit.
