He held his ground this week and insisted we keep our home game on the 19th. He made Foley have to compromise and give something up, and I don't feel bad at all for Florida because Foley was totally uncooperative the week leading up to Matthew and wanted no part of the game being relocated or postponed later that weekend. Alleva fought for us and the local businesses that will have a very successful financial weekend post flooding with Florida coming to town.

Also, he learned from last season and quickly pulled the plug on Miles rather than delaying the inevitable. Now he needs to make a good hire.

He stood his ground knowing he would get bent over in the end.

It's still absurd that we lose a home game out of all this.

Next year's schedule will be brutal.

Yep. All because of Florida's incompetence and even more so because of the incompetence of the SEC Commissioner. Slive or Kramer would not have let this happen in the first place.

Aleva's "line in the sand" statement was simply a set up and was scripted as part of the deal. It was designed to fool you into thinking he actually got something from the fiasco when in reality, LSU was totally shafted by the SEC and Florida. Because the SEC refused to charge Florida with the cowardly forfeit they deserved and that LSU never fought for in their demands, LSU has to lose the South Alabama home game before the short week Texas A & M game as well as their home game against Florida NEXT season putting them at a competitive disadvantage to Alabama this year and next year. All Florida loses is a home game against Presbyterian. The "home" game against Florida this year, being awarded at such a late time in the season is in no way comparable to a home game scheduled years in advance for the fans to properly plan to attend. Florida got everything they wanted out of this. Aleva is an idiot.

Nobody was ever going to force anybody to forfeit....I'm not sure where in the hell we came up with this shite from. I mean it makes good message board fodder and maybe a good meme....but in real life there was never ever ever even a .01% chance that it was going to happen no matter what anyone said or did.

They got the same thing that we got....a net loss of 1 home game which occurs in 2017 for us and this year for them. We could probably do a cost analysis on the benefit of cancelling/buying out the BYU game to add another cupcake in TS next year....I'm not sure we will just to satisfy delusional fans but it is possible.

Florida took their scheduled home game this year and threw it away all by themselves. LSU did not cause them to do this. The weather did not cause them to do this. It was their own charade which brought this about along with the fact that the SEC allowed them to get away with it. The interest of LSU were not protected in any manner in this episode and the primary function of any league office is to protect the interest of ALL of it's members. Florida and Alabama were certainly protected by the price LSU is having shoved down their throats.

They should try to get BYU to commit to a home and home, with a return trip to Provo sometime after 2020, and move the opener next year to BR. In a couple years, back out of going to Provo and pay them out, or go play the game.

I'm sure there is more to it than convincing BYU. I see little to no chance of the BYU game being moved.

....It's primary function is to protect the conference....that's a lot different from what you said. It is also the reason why I say F the SEC......I'll cheer for any team in any sport to beat any SEC team any time.

I'd tend to agree with this since it is one of those neutral site games....I'm sure NRG Stadium and TV has major skin in the game so to speak.

There was no perfect scenario for either team if this game was going to get played. At this point it is what it is. I'm glad that we again control our own destiny in the West even though winning may be a pipe dream.

Yes our SEC road slate is going to be tough next year, but I know our players are going to prepare, show up and play the games just like any other week. So if everyone could quit bitching that would be great.
