I don't think we have enough good wins, and too many bad losses. It would take a big run in the sec tourney at 12-6 to get in, then you have to hope all the favorites win their conference tourney's. Each time there is any upset in the Big Sky, or Horizon or Missouri Valley conference tourney we'll be one step closer to the nit

We will likely be a top 4 seed in the SEC Tournament. Probably the 3 or 4 seed.

Alabama and Florida will be in that 5-6 seed range. We're looking at a chance for a top 50 RPI win, away from home, in our very first SEC tournament game.

Win that one, and you get another top 50 RPI team in Kenticky or aTm right after.

12-6 might do it, but we'd need to win at least one game in the SEC Tournament.

Play-in games are at a neutral site, just like the rest of the tournament. We'd have to go to Dayton for a play-in.

As for the OP, 12-6 would be bubble territory. We may get in or we may not, depending on how the committee votes. A win in the SEC tournament would make me feel a lot better in that situation, though.

All that matters is just win the next game. Just PLEASE beat fricking Tennessee on Saturday before we even think how the rest of the season pans out.

I believe it would take 2 wins in the tourney, depending on who the wins and losses are to

We need to win the SECT. It's ours for the taking.

12-6 equals NIT. RPI already in the 80's, two more losses would put RPI close to 100. Zero chance of getting in with two more losses. Zero.

Unless lsu falls on its face, they will make the tourney. The Simmons factor is huge for ratings. They may not go far, but will make.

Eh... We really need to win the next 4 or 3 of the next 4 with a win @UK.

Just looking at raw numbers, from 2009-2015, no "Power Conference" team has received an at-large birth with more than 14 losses. We have 10 with likely 2 more (Kentucky, SEC Tournament) at least.

Of Power Conference, at large teams with 12-14 losses, the worst RPI was 64 (Marquette 2011). We're at 81 today.

I think 12-6 then depends on winning at one SEC tourney game and two to cement the bid. I agree that three more wins before selection doesn't get LSU anywhere.

I agree I don't think 12-6 does it. We are in a dangerous spot rpi wise. Just from an rpi standpoint, Tennessee, Arkansas, and especially Missouri are must wins. Then we have 2 games left against good rpi teams. At a minimum we have to split Florida/Kentucky. Anything less than that and I think we need to make a major run in the sec tournament. If not win the whole thing to be safe.

Uhh if the NCAA can get people to watch the "play-in" game in Dayton because of Ben Simmons they'll definitely get LSU in there. Plus, if they win that's another game for them to spotlight Simmons on CBS. All the reasons to get LSU in the tourny

If you are right, then LSU's chances of making the tournament are very slim, as they will likely have a difficult time beating TN, AR and/or KY on the road. The home game vs florida is not a guarantee by any means.

We won't have to worry about that...

...and I don't mean that in a good way.

I think this factor has been just ridiculously overblown. People are going to watch the NCAA tournament regardless. One still-developing freshman with a lot of potential but still some major weaknesses in his game isn't so important that they need to exclude a team that actually deserves to be there just to get him in.
