I’m not sure there is a qb in college football than can average 46 points a game and 600 yards of offense against top 10 teams.

That’s what it would have taken and will take going forward if the D does not improve.

Adding Maason smith and possibly starting (if he can actually play to all sec like last year) Denver Harris to the starting rotation could possibly completely change our defense. Denver Harris is wishful thinking.

A potent offense can mask a weak defense. The 2019 Tigers defense didn’t click until late and was very susceptible to busted coverages.

A strong defense can’t mask a weak offense.

The 2019 team averaged close to that, particularly against Texas/Bama and even Florida to an extent when the defense was getting shredded.

Particularly the second half of those games. Not just putting up 45 points but responding to defensive setbacks in the second half of big games with sustained drives and points as opposed to having two huge dropped passes/interception/terrible three and out all in succession.

Defense was bad but offense is very culpable in what happened Sunday night.

Did the saying "defense wins championships" just go out the window?

The defense wasn't terrible until the 4th quarter. 2019 defense against Texas was worse than sunday night...we just had a much better offense to keep Texas off the field.

Agreed, however, no offense in history has matched 2019. If that is the standard then every year will be a failure. We don’t have the #1 overall pick, 4 first rounders, and the two top wr’s in any level of football on this team.

Average margin of victory was the highest in the country I believe. We don’t need to win every game by 20. We just need to have more points than our opponent.

Outside of OM and Bama our offense won’t need to score that much…hopefully

D looked ok in the 1st half. Looked horrible in the 2nd. Overall, Looked a little like a work in progress. We are not as good as we thought. Off needs to work on the running game and red zone.

"Certainly, it's a question we have talked about," Kelly said. "There is a lot going on."

"You can look at Harold and what he's asked to do versus lining up off the edge. Player development has to be thought about. Where he goes at the next level has to be thought about. And then impacting our team."

"I think there is a happy medium there that we can probably strike, and we have already begun to look at how he can be most effective for Harold and LSU."

wat kind of delusional nonsense is this?

It means Perkins and his people are concerned about nfl draft status. If you don’t look out for his nfl future then he will find someone who will. Perkins is not a nfl d/e and they don’t draft 3rd down pass rushers in the first round.

Check out the atm game last year on how to neutralize a guy that his only job is rush a qb. You have to affect the game in many ways.

The nfl is filled with physical freaks like perkins.

If the defense doesn’t improve, you better care who is the quarterback. Because thats who you will depending on to win you the game.

If the defense doesn’t improve it doesn’t matter whom the qb is. You are losing.

Yay, my qb played and we lost by 14 instead of 20. I’m so excited!
