There’s an undoubted ace in that group, you match Skenes up to him if you can, or take the W in game 1 if you can’t

I Agree.Take our chances with Hurd vs UT or Southern Miss.
Then pitch Skenes against Wake if that is the matchup.

If we lose game one because we don't start Skenes we will start him game 2 and will win that game.

Either game we lose is the same amount of days till the next game.
IMO you have to go after both wins and we are sitting pretty.

If we pitch Skenes game 1 we will more than likely win that 1 then Hurd vs Wake Forest I don't see us in a good matchup.
If we pitch Hurd or Floyd vs USM/Tenn I think we can win and probably will. Then Skenes sets us up for Wake. Then we are golden.

I'd bet that Rhett Lowder is pitching game 1

Just dont see the benefit of throwing Skenes game 1 besides "momentum". If we bring him back before the Championship Series, then he's probably not throwing in Championship series. If he does its Monday (if nec. game) and not a full start.

Skenes is a different dude tho.. but the way they have protected him this year I'd be surprised if we over extend him

Assuming we win the first 2 games:
Saturday Skenes
Monday Floyd

Thursday Skenes
Friday ??? (If necessary)

Given that we win our first 3 games in which Skenes would pitch 2 of them:

Saturday Floyd
Sunday ???
Monday Skenes

This is the only way to handle the pitching moving forward.

Skenes 3 starts on regular rest for the first 2 and 3 days rest for the last game. He would be pitching the deciding game 3 of the championship. Let him give us 5 or 6 innings.

Gotta beat Wake with either Hurd or Floyd. Then your prediction may be correct.

If we lose to Wake in game 2. We have to scramble in the loser bracket until we get back to Skenes.

Monday IF NECESSARY Skenes

sorry.. just dont see them bringing back Skenes on short rest twice in 11 days. and gm3 of the CS aint guaranteed.. otherwise, i'd be more willing to throw him game 1. or if the CWS was still as spread out. it's 2 days more compacted these days.

ideally this-
Saturday- Hurd vs USM W
Monday- Skenes vs WF W
Thursday- Floyd vs ??? W

Saturday (Gm 1 of CS)- HurdW
Sunday SkenesW

ETA Just saw this-

Jay said today on Mik’d Up that “Skenes isn’t done. We have him for two or three more starts.”

ok i was wrong then. just not how i'd handle it but like i said Skenes is... different. i also really wanted to see PS vs Wake but guess thats out now.

Skenes better be able to pitch on 4 days rest or he can kiss his MLB career goodbye.

I have no doubt Skenes is up to the task.

I stand by my starting rotation.

It's no time to see if Hurd has it or not, that's ludicrous.

It's Skenes/Floyd or bust from this point forward

We just need Floyd to pull an epic start out of his backside vs mighty Wake Forest. If he does, LSU is the national champions of baseball in 2023.

We need Skenes to make 3 starts. I don't see us winning it all otherwise.

well what about 3 days rest for a game that might not even happen? nope.. dont see it. like others said maybe in a short relief appearance if we even get there (assume we are playing florida)

Floyd hasn't looked sharp last 2 outings (high pitch count, HRs,etc).. but i somewhat agree. CJJ will probably have very short hook with Cooper/Hurd ready to go.

The whole "save Skenes for Wake crowd" will be in for a rude awakening if LSU loses game 1 and we don't see them.

Or what if they don't win their first game either? It's not impossible that Stanford or Texas could beat them.

Remember that year we decided to hold Alex Lange and not pitch him in Game 1 of the CWS?

I agree you have to go get game 1.

How many times have we lost the first game and then we are done.

Wake is going to eat Floyd alive he's not consistent enough.
Hurd game 1
Skennes game 2 against Wake
