How would LSU's resume at 21-11, 10-6 compare to the 2003 team's resume?

The two seasons are very similar.

That team ended up 21-10, 8-8. I'd bet their RPI was much better than what ours will end up being.

A good start with a big win, a bad start to conference play, and a hot finish.

We got bitch slapped by Purdue. That was fun.

This team would prolly get popped in their first game. Keep the comparisons coming.

Oh and the SEC tourney was in New Orleans in 03. :coco2:

That 03 team had practically no depth if I recall correctly.

I always forget that squad made the Big Dance.

We did.

This year Vandy losing their last three tough games, LSU getting the 3 seed and beating Florida in the semis would make us a lock.

Anyone remember what the 03 team's RPI was?

Don't remember. I do remember they beat #1 Arizona. That had to be a boost.

I skipped class for that shite.

Also that team beat Zona that year and they were a #1 seed. That carried way more weight than the Marquette win. But a big issue is LSU was completely off the radar this year so it's taken longer to get noticed.

According to SI, they ended up at 44 in RPI (something that this team may be able to get pretty close to if they win out to the SECT imo)

The game was tied at 32 at the half. Then we completely shut down in the second half.

We beat No 1 9 years ago.

We got hammered by No 1 this year.

9 years ago we beat 3 Top 10 team. This year we just beat 1.

Actual Attendance for that Zona game was less than 10K. Damn LSU fans are crappy.

I was there, no way that game had less than 10K (The 66-65 win right?) something had to go wrong with tickets or something. The PMAC was definitely packed that night

That's weird, because I don't remember there being an empty seat. I know the lower bowl was packed. Maybe there was a lot of room in the uppers or something.

Nope the 02-03 game where Torris Bright swatted the inbound pass to win it right? Maybe I just thought it was packed because of how loud it was at the end

It wasn't packed but it was a good crowd. It was during the Christmas break so people had "other" stuff to do.

Great comparison. In 2003 Xavier Whipple was inserted as the starting point guard and
Torris Bright was moved to shooting guard. The team not only won the last five SEC games they obliterated their opponnets as they shot incedibly. They did have a close game to end the season with BAMA, but picked right up in the tourney and blew out Arkansas and gutted out a tough win over Florida.

As for the constant reference to teh Purdue game there is always some theme that the coaching staff should have done something different. Score tied 33-33 at half, team has shot incredibly for a month and is locked in a battle with a tough team similar to BAMA and Florida , both of whom were beaten in grind it out fashion. What strategy should have changed at the half given those scenarios?
