I'm sure it's been covered but hell no.

You think dealing with Alabama is a pain? Texas owns the Big 12. That's why there's no Big 12 network. It's the Longhorn Network.

I think Fletch said it best, "No. Never. Never."

Open...but the best route would be to join a new super conference that would compete head on with SEC. That will take time. Right now we can't do it.. no viable option that puts us in the best position. But watch out for the next decade. One constant in life is change:).

firmly agree with the poster that said that the SEC power structure and along with it's systematic media bias is slowly picking away at LSU in order to influence recruits and the general population to downgrade LSU. We will in the near future remember the bygone days when LSU was a powerfull and relavent football power. As long as the SEC offices are in Birmingham and the Bama power structure that controls this conference and media influence, LSU will slowly erode away. Either the offices at moved to Atlanta or Indianopolis or LSU leaves the conference to start a new copnferance. A fair and respectfull conferance of all its members. I think many schools (for a variety of reasons) would jump at the chance to join such a conference. Many are unhappy with their current conferance situations. I'm sure a lot of the big 12 is unhappy and would jump at a change. It has become mainly a Texas conference. Auburn would probably jump to get away from Alabama. Mississippi can't support two SEC schools so either Miss St (preferable) or Ole Miss need to join the ASC (all south conference). Notre Dame may be looking. Some teams, such as Maryland or Virgiana Cavs may just need a fresh perspective that a new conference could bring. S Florida Bulls is bigger than Florida U or Fla St and deserves a shot at the big time. Texas needs a fresh start outside the big 12. Just many options and opportunities that a new conference could bring for a lot of schools that deserve a better shake than they are getting from their current situations.

This here is what I am talking about. But this won't happen soon unless something out of the ordinary happens behind the scenes. It will be tough to get those many schools with little past history to collaborate together to get it done. But it is certainly not impossible.

This thread turned out well.

Alas, some dummies can't read and thought I wanted LSU to join the Big 12 or said it would be a good idea. They think narrowly for maybe all of one second before instinctive emotion takes over.

Still, some good responses by those who think big, outside the box, and like to explore ideas and possibilities.

It is never going to happen, but I would love to see this happen. Frick the SEC.

Despite all of the up/downs with the SEC, why would we want to leave the SEC for the Big 12 (10)? We aren't the biggest fish in the SEC pond and wouldnt be in the Big 12 (10). The Big 12 is Texas' conference and we would beholdent to that disaster, their network, etc.

I've seen some really dumb posts over the years, but this is the dumbest. By far.

Very open

After the hurricane crap, the SEC can shove it. I could care less about the conference as a whole.

Hell no and the big 12 isn't an option you don't leave the best conference for your school to go to one that there are serious doubts about rather or not it will be around in 5-10 yrs. Guess what the commissioner didn't like how we handled the Matthew thing so what just cause you get upset cause somebody talked down to you and leave. Lsu isn't your everyday meth head jumping from job to job

Here's a list of the 12 finalists the Big 12 was considering for expansion:

Air Force, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado State, UConn, Houston, Rice, South Florida, SMU, Temple and Tulane.

Anyone wanting LSU to consider the Big 12 is braindead. They are the most dysfunctional conference out there. There will be no Big 12 in a few years.

But hey, let's join them!

I see pro's and cons. I like the thought of leaving what the SEC has turned into but not to go to a shitty Big 12. I would love to see a proposal of a new conference between SEC West teams (minus corrupt Bama) and the Big 12 programs that are worth a shite. Let the SEC crumble and then consider adding in Bama and UF once they have no input into league decisions.

No....not at all.

The only option that would even have the slightest chance would possibly be the ACC....and only if ND chooses to be a permanent member....which will never happen.

Some current conferences have buyouts up to $50 million.

It is highly unlikely there will be much realignment ever again.

Are you open to the idea of LSU in the Big 12? Playing Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, and Texas every year? Perhaps beginning a season ending rivalry with Texas

The Big 12 would be a MAJOR downgrade from the SEC. The Big 12 was on the brink of completely dissolving a few years ago when Nebraska and Colorado left and everyone else was throwing a hissy fit over the Longhorn Network. And after they decided not to expand earlier this week, they might end up dissolving in the not too distant future. The last team they added was West Virginia...WV is geographically WAY outside of conference's existing footprint. And the recently considered schools included Central Florida, South Florida and UConn. None of the schools considered have particularly prestigious athletic programs with the exception of UConn basketball. Should tell you that the conference's future outlook is pretty damn bleak since they've already added 1 school thats halfway across the country from the next closest Big 12 school and were considering other schools ever further out the way. Plus going to the Big 12 means a big revenue loss for LSU because Big 12 TV contracts don't pay what the SEC gets and SEC has its own network too.

If you want to play Texas and Oklahoma...stay in the SEC. The Big 12 imploding sometime in the next 5-10 years is a very realistic possibility and if it happens, Texas and Oklahoma will be there for the SEC's taking.
