He's by far the best available option already on staff. He's been in a similar situation before at USC when they fired Kiffin and did a great job. Really, a no-brainer.

they're all under contract, honor their end of the agreement and then see if they merit renegotiation

Not to mention he has previous head coaching experience and been part of 2 college football powerhouses

Coach O could get a HC job at Tulane, LA Tech, or the like if he can do 6-2 this year but not at LSU.
