I'm starting to think the next coach for LSU will not be any of the listed favorites (Fisher, Kelley, etc.) but someone from out of "left field". Just a gut hunch based on prior coaching searches. Anyone else feel this way?? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

The last coaching search was in late '04 / early '05.

Before that, Nick Saban had things worked out quietly. Both searches were before the wide-spread proliferation of internet and internet 'information leak' culture.

I cannot recall the last head coach hire/fire sequence with something out of left-field, in either college or the NFL.

In short? It's possible Jimbo Fisher won't be the next head coach, but you'll likely know the name of the next head coach before they're announced.

Just make a good choice. The main thing is to have a really good recruiting staff and save this class as much as humanly possible.

It is interesting that Saban's name has not been mentioned. Would you not, at least, make a call to arguably the best coach in football especially with LSU ties? A guy who tried to come back to LSU after Miami.

I find it interesting that his name has not even been mentioned.

Saban out of left field?

Would be far more satisfying to beat him regularly.
