Flip argument. Would you be saying that if he won six titles at LSU? Let’s not count most of them

Tell me exactly when LSU got favorable calls from SEC officials to win a game or media blathering to sneak their way into the playoffs.

In my opinion, Saban, aside from just being old & tired (he should have switched his ad role from AFLAC, to NUGENX - Total T; with Frank Thomas……it may have helped!?), realized the “winning percentages” were no longer in his favor.

When he began in 2007, he had no NIL, no TP, all he needed was the REC. His 1st major “get” via the REC, was Julio Jones (via the infamous fishing trip, with $$$$ and ladies).

Bama invented and perfected (during the Bryant era) the Booster/Recruiting method —- well before SMU made it infamous. Couple this guys with the SEC offices for scheduling, rules & officiating was in Birmingham — run by a TON of BAMA alums — and he’s in heaven.

Then, we come into NIL, and Transfer Portal era, and he realizes “shite, now I lost that recruiting advantage”.

In my opinion, the nail in the coffin was adding UO, UT to the SEC, and expansion to a 12 team playoff, and he said “no mas”. His work would have needed to double to compete with all the new $$$$ in the SEC….and even the SEC offices in B’ham couldn’t help him much. At 70+, he said “I’m off to Lake Lanier…..while I’m still viewed as the GOAT……Roll Tide”

What I dislike most about a couple of their championships is how the narrative changed by the media or the committee or voices of the game, always to benefit getting them in. They eye test. The best loss. Would beat Texas now etc.

Now, in most years (not this year) but most years when they were “let in”, they cashed in. And that’s what bother me, because it made a great coach and team seem invincible.

As a start, 2012.

We played 4 top-10 teams in a row. We went .500. Ba*ma* also went .500 against their consecutive top-!0 games. But they only played two.

Do you not see a scheduling advantaged weighted in their favor? Swap schedules and who goes to ATL? Not Ba*ma*.

Weak.

Schedules are made years ahead.

Remember LSU being a two loss National Champion?

Well, they WERE, until we had bridge scheduling when the conference expanded.

2012 and 2013 were "special" to say the least. Especially when the Bama alum, prior to the 2013 season (not years ahead as you put it) took Kentucky off of LSU's rotation, and gave them to Bama and forced LSU to get UGA. Bama was supposed to play UGA that year in GA, but almost lost in the 2012 SECCG.

You are no doubt going to deny this happened and call anyone who points out these facts "pussies", but it did happen.

Anything else you would like to be wrong about?

I don't think Bana "cheated" more than any other program during Saban's time. Hell, they probably had to cheat less because they were so successful, recruiting was probably easier.

I do think Bama got "lucked" into a few extra chances for the title (going to the CFP while not winning your conference, etc)

While there does exist statistical proof in the earlier years that Saban led Bama benefitted from officiating (while at LSU, Saban was 7-8th penalized team, at Bama they were least penalized for his first 4-5 seasons), Saban would have won even more championships at LSU had he never left.

The 2 NFL seasons included alone would have given him an advantage.

But one of the greatest factors is that ALL of his championship teams had KEY players from LA. They would have been playing for LSU and Bama would have been good about as often as Auburn is

Maybe 2 legit titles

Right on target. Just a little bit of the thumb on the scale moves the needle for a very good coach and program.
