Man we really need to win the bowl game and do it in impressive fashion and head into the off season on a high note

It will be another rough offseason if we lose the bowl game. It might be one anyway given what went down, though.

2010 going into 2011 is the last time I can remember a truly peaceful offseason around here.

the same as if we won

Bowls suck...wish they would just do a 16 team playoff

If they can defend the toss dive, it will be a long off-season.....

For people who read this board or don't? Big difference IMO.

I don't see winning a minor bowl game as a big deal. The offseason will be dominated by how all this shite affected our recruiting class and what staff changes are made, if any.

I now feel this way.. but probably because we are trash in bowl games of late and I only care about championships.. however, it was pretty badass beating the shite out of ND in the Sugar Bowl in 06.. which lead us into a great 2007 championship season..

The 2010 Bowl game we whipped a&m's arse in the Cotton bowl..

We went on to a tremendous 2011 undefeated season wrecking shop...

So actually there can be some nice carry over from the bowl game, especially if we dominate.. Something we have't done... even our last win was an ugly 21-14 win..

This bowl game, with prep, really can give us something to catapult our confidence if we decide to go out an dominate.. like the good times before..

I think it could be very important for us..

Just as long as last season after the Notre Dame bowl loss.

And just as long as next season after another 8-4 record and bowl loss.

It will be the normal offseason.
1. Lose the bowl game and everyone takes the I don't care mind set.
2. signing day gets everyone feeling better.
3. by spring everyone gets excited about the development of the QB from Miles's stats of "about 250 yards passing with about 3 TD's.
4. Then by August everyone thinks LSU will go undefeated with Harris and Fournette splitting the heisman trophy.
5. Go undefeated through October by beating Miss st, Auburn and 4 high school teams.
6. Lose 3-4 games in November because there is no development of the QB and every defense knows Fournette up the middle is coming.

Repeat

i honestly couldn't care less about non-major bowl games. they're exhibition games. their only redeeming purposes are an extra month of practice, a cool trip with free stuff for players, and a chance for younger players to hopefully get some good PT. For programs who are just happy to be there, yeah it's different. but for a team who's supposed to compete for conference championships, a "meh" bowl game isn't really a big deal. that's why you generally see a lot of upsets in bowl games. the mindset of two teams is very frequently night and day. one team, many times, has had a great season for them and their opponent has had a disappointing season for them.

Mathematically, it depends entirely on which date the bowl game is played.

Nice use of the present perfect tense. Twice.
