How long does the QB competition stay "open"?

Fall camp right around the corner. (Next week)
4 "Preseason Games". (Scrimmages)
Over/under "Game" 3 before Danny Etling is named the starter for BYU/2017 ?
What is a "fair opportunity" for Brennan to show his stuff?

Not long. Unless somebody other than Eltling shits the bed, or someone else can't be stopped, he's the logical choice for this year.

I think they would like to get both Myles and Narcise some action this year because next year one of them has to be the starter.

Easy answer. It's open until somebody takes it away from Etling. I don't understand why some fans believe a coach would start a lesser player over a better player. It's like some fans already believe O will start Etling over Brennan and in their minds Brennan is already the better option. Why would O do that? If Brennan is better he will start. O has already said he is keeping the QB competition open because he promised Brennan it would be. In my view, I don't care who we start. Start the guy who gives us the best chance to win. Funny how some fans who have never been to a single practice already "know" who that is.

Both Freshmen should redshirt. Maybe a JJ/J Lee situation moving forward where BOTH are needed in the future if we can eliminate a transfer in the future.

Let me let everyone know something, Myles Brennan WILL NOT start or even take a snap in a game this season. Even if Etling channels his inner Jarret Lee and starts throwing pick 6s, the coaches are not going to go to Brennan. He's a true freshman for gods sake

Jalen Hurts would not have been the starter on any other team than Bama last year. Without that Oline to protect him, he would t have been able to run the ball like he did and his passing game was not good enough on its own to beat out any other starting QB in the SEC last year.

100% agree. His strength is his mobility and stature. He's not the best passer, he really isn't.
