I don't know but the fact we didn't offer him way more money to be the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator here than a head coach job at a mid-tier school bothers me

Season is just heating up and you want to start coach change board? GTFOOH. Dean will always come home when called.

Paul "Underachieving" Mainieri should be on the hot seat with the expectations this year. Omaha or fired.

I refer you back to tigbit's previous post in this thread

quote:

"Mainieri has a 457-179-3 record at LSU in 10 seasons. He was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2014, and he earned National Coach of the Year recognition in 2008, 2009 and 2015. Mainieri directed LSU to the 2009 College World Series title, and he also led the Tigers to CWS appearances in 2008, 2013 and 2015. Under Mainieri, the Tigers have won five SEC Tournament titles (2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014), five SEC Western Division titles (2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015) and the 2009, 2012 and 2015 SEC regular-season championships."

they got swept by SLU.

That shouldn't surprise anyone. SLU has better baseball players than UNO and is a better baseball team.

Blake Dean may well be an excellent SEC coach at some point in the future but that's several years into the future.

Cannizzaro was pretty good if I remember correctly.

UNO finished last season tied for 7th with 2 other teams in the southland. Might want to pump the breaks a little. I know those wins against LSU are nice but if you can't compete in your conference it's pretty meaningless.

Is he really even that great? Let him stay there for a few years first

Thanks, although there is history that supports him being born in Wales also. Not sure how that relates to Blake Dean but always happy to exchange info.

That's not a "fact." That's an assumption on your part.

How do you know PM didn't talk to Dean? How do you know that more money would have made Dean leave UNO after one season as head coach, especially with Dean coaching his little brother at UNO?

Because I can read people's minds and know what they're thinking

Plus that Luke Johnson fellow on the twitter would have tweeted about it to his followers

When will people realize coaches aren't just handed keys to elite programs?

Maineri was handed the keys to an elite program. Granted he's been better than Smoke but it's not like smoke left the cupboard empty

When CPM got here the program was not elite. He brought it back up to elite and it has remained elite. Being a top 8 team after the regular season for 5 straight years in the top one or two conference in the country tells you they are still elite.

Please list Maineri's head coaching experience in 2006 vs Dean's head coaching in 2017.

The 2007 LSU baseball team was the least talented team LSU may have ever had since the mid 80's. Granted you had freshmen such as Dean, Ochinko, Schimpf, and Mitchell but none took a single pitch under Smoke.

The cupboard was bare when Mainieri took over.

Blake Dean is gone from UNO after this year. Paul Mainieri will not be gone from LSU.

take that to the bank. Coaches have done less than Dean and gotten raises to go to bigger programs that UNO can't match

for all the advantages UNO might have (location, nice field), you still have a severe lack of fans and a lack of money available

Was your disability a brain injury? Your posts seem to indicate a loss of mental acuity.

If your reading comprehension and retention skills were any good, you would remember from yesterday when I said my medical disabilities had nothing to do with cognition.

You may want to get a referral to a TBI clinic actually

How many championships did Maineri win at Notre Dame?

Answer: same amount as Blake dean has won as a HC. And I never suggested Dean should replace PM as head coach

Also you said the cupboard was bare but it was players like dean, schimpf, and Coleman that smoke recruited that carried us to a title in 2009
