They don't play fundamentals, just talent.

Every team can get ready to play Kentucky because it's Kentucky. This team has lost to the 10th, 12th, 13th, and 14th placed teams in the league! Oh, and also lost to ODU. Now you explain to me how that isn't coaching Chief!

This team is either lazy or just doesn't have any energy. That falls on the coach.

As far as tonight's game is concerned, those guys have obviously bought in to their sawed-off, hyperhidrotic coach's plan. But more power to them.

Plus, other than M & M, UT has more talented players, especially in the big guard/small forward area.

EFFORT HUSTLE PLAYING SMART.....that is just not the DNA of this team for some reason. They think they are already in the pros and it is not the playoffs yet.

There is no attention to detail. That is the case even during wins. Jones also seems to be ok with his guys reading their press clippings. I was worried about this game the moment I heard an interview this week with Hornsby and others talking about where LSU was in the latest "bracketology". You knew that very moment that LSU wasn't focused on a team that was actually a bad matchup (slow tempo; zone defense). There just isn't consistent focus because they don't have a coaching staff that holds the players fully accountable.

That focus will return against Ark. and I wouldn't be shocked to see a win, only to lose the first round of the SECT. Good teams get up for everyone, not just the other good teams

Martin and Mickey aren't polished ready to go players, they are talented. Our lack of a bench has prevented us from actually punishing players for bad effort.

Agreed. They do what they want. What would Bobby Knight have done to Martin for that (in game) b/w the legs dunk? I only wish that Simmons was on this team to show M&M what a polished player looks like.

The other issue is that we have no leadership on the court. I was hoping that Hornsby would be that guy but he isn't.

and drilling home the basics of basketball, box out, drive the lane, keep your feet moving on defense, get it to the big guy, you need to draw in the defense by driving extremely flat with no help from the coaching staff

Yeah, but the 10-7 vs. 2-14 record bring that surging back... If LSU has to pick between a great X&O guy and lousy recruiter or a great recruiter and lousy X&O guy, give me the recruiter every single time... Talent can at least put you in the race

If JJ knows what's best for him he will take a long look in the mirror and admit that he needs to let one of his assistants take a bigger role. If we don't have a great strategist...we need to hire one. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't because weak coaches don't like to have smart assistants. He is a great recruiter but that won't win it all.

I asked you to tell me why he is a bad coach and you give me this crap. I knew, I repeat I knew, that you had no answer to my question. typical LSU basketball fan that knows absolutely nothing about basketball. I'm really not impressed that you can look at the SEC standings and see we lost to some bad teams. You have no idea why and it shows. And you can take your cheif comment and shove it up your arse.

very simple. effort! It's not x's and o's. it's the players decision to give it their all or be lazy. the give it their all at times and are lazy at times. therefore, they are inconsistent.

Last night Martin and Mickey got handled by guys a 1/2 of foot smaller than them. that simple no defense no rebounding. that is lazy/lack of effort. Against good teams, they play hard and fair better.
