They were supposed to lean on pitching & defense and while the defense has leveled out, the pitching has not carried its weight.
We knew the hitting wouldn’t be what is was last year. But guys like Neal & Kling haven’t taken even a small step forward, and I know Jay was counting on that.
They aren’t as bad as the record. The SEC is just that good.

Total lack of leadership seems to be an issue as well

Just goes to show how important leadership and experience are in the success of a team. Last year we had Crews to lead the outfield, Morgan and White leading the infield and Skenes leading the pitching staff.
Without strong leadership, this team doesn't have the confidence and experience to battle against some of the best teams in the country and thus you're going to see the errors, poor pitching and lack of hitting.
However, some blame needs to go to the coaches. I understand losing, but we have too much talent to be this bad!

It’s called players not producing as expected
More like hoped for when having so many young guys playing. I like what I see out of Larson and Milam, but the second year and older guys are really going to have to produce if LSU is to start winning with or without the remaining schedule supposedly becoming easier. I might give Neal a pass due to how many games he missed due to injury, but he should definitely be better at the plate than what he has produced. Remember when LSU "won" the Minute Maid classic earlier and everything was on an upswing???

We lost a lot of talent from a championship team.
The guys left over have a hangover from last year.
This team is better than it is playing now.
It will get better, but not good enough to have meaningful postseason.
JJ is a good coach as referenced by the rant just months ago.
He will continue to recruit his guys and will be good next year.
Everyone calm the hall down.
