I loved him as a player and I think he can be a fine coach one day, but what experience does he have as a hitting coach?

As another poster said...it was a lazy hire on CPM's part.

We've regressed as a team hitting and that falls squarely on his and maineri's shoulders. The reports out of the cape cod league last summer seem to have been false hope as well.

If you graduate under Paul and come out not thinking he's a massive dickhead, you have a good shot at getting a job from him. So in that respect, Gibbs is very qualified

He was tutuored by Mainieri and Javi. How can a hitting coach that learned under them be any good?

Not promote Cain and go pay a qualified candidate? You people who act like this was an impossible task and this was the only possible move are ridiculous

I have said this repeatedly before and throughout this season. It was a very poor decision.

I always saw Gibbs as the interim guy. If he does good work you keep him. If he fails you start a search at the end of the year when there are actually options out there. You're delusional to think that 3 months before the season other coaches are going to jump jobs with everything in full swing. It was a rare occurrence that the MSU job was open at that point in the offseason. Coaches aren't moving jobs in November. They do that in June and July dude

There are 25-30 D1 Baseball Programs within a 250 mile radius of Baton Rouge. If PM had tried to hire a legitimate experienced Asst., a coach would have likely been hired. Instead, PM got lazy and promoted his Admin Asst with ZERO experience to be the Hitting Coach. The problem is PM is an absolute Dickhead and no one will work for him. The proof is the number of bodies PM has thrown under the bus.

You're delusional. Coaches don't change jobs in November. Gibbs resume wasn't much different then Canizarros coming in. Both played MiLB. Both gave private lessons in the offseason. Andy being a little older at time of hire, but literally had no coaching experience

I'm delusional to think there was no possible way to hire a more qualified coach with more experience than a guy with no experience ? Ok Lester

CPM painted himself into a corner by promoting an undeserving Cain so he limited his pool to guys willing to work for nothing...enter Gibbs.

It was stupid and lazy.
