Mobile qb gives Saban defenses fits. Got to be accurate though.

I'd chalk that up to being ridiculous at QB rather than pocket passer. Like I said, both Rodgers and Big Ben are mobile and have one the SB. Hell Kap and Wilson were in the conference Champ. You have to look at everything when you are talking about SB team.

The team with dual threat QB has 1/2 man advantage over pocket QB.

I want a guy who is great in college. What he does in the NFL is irrelevant.

Works better in college than the NFL. Hell, there have been great college teams that threw for less than 2,000 yards in a year.

It's not important to have a mobile QB if your offense doesn't need it. If you're not a great passing team, it's probably necessary.

Yep. There have been a boat load of great college athletes who never made it to the NFL. I don't really keep up with former LSU players at the next level

How mobile is AJ? McElroy? Leinart? Dorsey?

It's not the end all, be all as many seem to think on the Rant.

I'd take a pocket passing quarterback over a dual threat quartback any day. Dual threat quarterbacks have a higher chance of getting hurt.

Have you seen the rest of their team? Any Bama QB from 2009 up knows that all they have to do is not turn the ball over, and they win.

It's not important if you have a good OL. If your line part like the red see often, then it's time to beat feet.

Its not necessary to win a national title, but it's a dangerous combination if he can throw, i.e. winston, manziel. Problem with Jefferson was that he wasn't an accurate passer. Not bashing the kid as he's still a tiger. But defenses knew he couldn't throw and shut game planned to shut down our run. Incredible to think about the offensive production LSU put up in 2011 despite these glaring issues.

I think it is better to have one who can pass, but can actually get 10 yards if he needs to like Matt Flynn and JaMarcus Russell. Mett cannot run. He looks like he is going to hurt himself.

Mobile does not equal a running qb.

just need someone who can actually move.

it's an asset to any team. I think it is an absolute must on a les miles coached team. Any team that likes to rely on defense rather than offense needs a qb who can bail out the sideline calls with his feet.

We are just a competent Oline away this year

They could be better no doubt but we are a few good d linemen and linebackers away from a NC this year. LSU beat Bama in all phases until the defense wore out in the 3rd quarter.

Not important if he can throw the ball, his oline is awesome, and he is surrounded by playmakers

This. JJ was a "mobile QB" wasn't he?

I want LSU to have what Bama has had in past two QB's, smart game manager who can make most of the throws, knows the playbook inside and out, can read defenses, check at the line, mobile in the pocket... protected by an OLine that is smart, tough, physical... running backs who don't run east-west when they need to run north-south... and wide receivers like OBJ and Landry.
