Joe,
Parking passes are awesome to have. There is the bus system too that will drop you off literally in front of the stadium for like 10 bucks.
There free lots are a pretty good trek to walk. The $40 lots are close, but not THAT close. Still have a good little walk depending on where your tickets are. For big games on campus, those $40 lots will fill up quick and early.

I have passes to many games, but for the ones I don't, I park behind U-High by Lod Cook and the SAE and Sigma Nu houses. It's a far walk, especially after the game, but the traffic is diverted out towards Perkins Rd from those lots. I'm home in no time.
Sometimes I have passes at the old or new Alex Box and still prefer just to do free parking behind U High just because of the way traffic is forced after the games.

Where's the best place to park? Its been a while since I've been to a game and never had to worry about it as a student
Which direction are you heading after the game? That will depend on the best place to park.

Parking Pass
Completely unnecessary unless you are setting up your own big tailgate at a specific location.

More important than tickets IMO.

Get there early and you can find parking behind Law Center and behind KA. If not try Hayfield lots

Game is at 2:30 p.m. and not a night game. Better get there earlier than 9:30 if you want to park.

If not tailgating, just take shuttle from downtown

I drove down with my son last year and parked near the rec center. Not a bad walk, but nor did we carry anything for tailgating. Problem was the clusterfrick of traffic to get out took over an hour to hit 10.
That's why you got to leave early.
