Wasn't the kid a 4* coming out of high school? With no QB in this class, he could be the guy if Harris gets injured.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but he had to transfer from Purdue because he couldn't win the job.

He wasn't terrible at Purdue. He made mistakes like every other young QB.

I think the hope with him is he is more of a pro style QB than what we already have.

i rag on the dude for transferring out from purdue but he does have some ability

the fact is we'll probably never know how good he is, because unless Brandon Harris completely tanks he's not going to play

During the spring many reporters said he looked like the most natural QB on the roster.

I can honestly say he's head and shoulders above the quarterbacks we have coming in this year... oh... wait...

Well, for the sake of argument, Jake Coker couldn't win the job at FSU, and he turned out OK. Sometimes it just takes a different environment. And sometimes it just takes some QBs longer to develop than others. Who knows what the situation is with Etling?

Good enough to be a competent backup and bring competition we hope.

You have no idea why he transferre . Maybe he wanted to get away from a terrible team with little talent around him...he might excel with the stud wrs that LSU has.

The difference will be that at Purdue he needed to make all the plays. Here, he simply needs to make some of the plays.

...and compare the offensive talent at LSU vs. Purdue that could help him out

He lost the starting job because he wasn't very good. That's why he transferred.

I watched his highlights...
He's more prototype pro style than BH
He has a year more of development, time learning college offenses than BH
Good size and pretty decent scrambler
B.H. definitely has stronger arm and is faster
Etling can look off safeties, more accurate short to intermediate than BH
Etling looks to be a decent decision maker when he has time... I think he's pretty similar to Mauck or Flynn, with a really good running game and good pass blocking I think he could be pretty good.
