Because Jimbo never sat down with FSU admins to say he wasn't interested in the LSU job until this weekend. If you are the AD at FSU, wouldn't you demand this info when the smoke first started to blow? Jimbo was obviously in play and I truly believe that third quarter meeting Alleva had was a final phone call to Sexton.

he stated last night that the offense looked fine and there would not be any change

Did you think Les was gonna be forthcoming with the media after they had just tried to railroad his arse. He beat them at their own game then descreetly flipped them off in the presser afterwards. There never was any Jimbo offer. The admins leaked the story then put out feelers only to have their fingers stepped on by all the potential candidates. When Les learned they were striking out on all fronts he decided to force their play while they had only one option and started working the PR front at all his coaches shows and luncheons. Goofball Les is a front, it's his poker face.

I don't know how sure you or anybody should be WRT what we think happened. Jimmy Sexton's method with all of his clients is: always listen to a sales pitch from a "suitor" because that's the way that you get raises and better jobs.

Didn't we read somewhere that Sexton/Jimbo wanted more than LSU was willing to pay and that ended negotiations decisively? IF that happened then it means yes LSU would have Jimbo as coach but for not wanting to pay his asking price.

There is just no way that the public will ever know the real truth about these super-secret matters. We will never know the truth about Jimbo's true willingness to bolt FSU OR whether Sexton simply wanted to generate a little smoke in order to prompt FSU into giving his client a raise.

We will never know for sure. But, count me in as one who wishes Jimbo would agree to be the HC for LSU as soon as possible.

When you barely keep your coaching job at the 11th hour, there is no margin for error. We need to find a way to develop QBs. You fix that area of the team and the rest will fall into place.

I believe Coach Miles was simply getting ready for the game. He wasn't involved in any "working the PR front" IMHO because there was no time for that.

Besides, that goofyness is not a front. That's the real Les but he's not stupid.

If he doesn't pull this thing together by next season, I'd say it's cherry hot and he will be gone by year's end.

Seems to me that if Les goes and hires up-tempo, read option, spread type of OC then it seems logical he gets some leeway--maybe a couple of years. Provided he allows a higher degree of autonomy.

However if he stays with same type of old school between the tackles Big 10 football and it continues to fail, he'll be gone next year.
