How bad of a coach was Brick Haley?

Through two games this season, LSU has 8 sacks and is currently tied for 4th in the nation averaging 4 sacks a game. Last year, y'all had 19 sacks the entire season. This year at the University of Texas (where Haley currently coaches), they have 4 sacks (tied for 95th) so far, and only 2 by defensive lineman. I know Texas lost a lot from last season, but they did have 40 sacks and led the Big 12 in sacks per game.

Was there a bigger coaching upgrade in all of CFB than going from Haley to Orgeron?

could recruit but was a terrible coach.

Hiring O was the best decision Miles has ever made. Period.

Think he had other things going on personally and needed a fresh start.

Our lack of sacks had a bit to do with chief too. His passive arse defense didn't allow our play makers to make plays.

There was a story posted a few months ago about how the Vikings staff was shocked about how little technique Danille Hunter had been taught while at LSU.

Huge, massive, gigantic, enormous, colossal upgrade over him with Coach O

Not really his fault when your DC plays prevent every down.
I think we blitzed more in the last two games than we every did with Chavis.

IMO Chavis is why we were left with no depth.

So what's with Texas A&M's sack numbers so far this season? Is it just their player(s) and the quality of their opponents or has Chavis become more aggressive?

I believe he has a son with special needs. They have a really great Dr in Austin. Burned out mentally and needed a fresh start.

LSU has the best coaching staff in the country when you break it all down.

Raymond with the DBs
Grimes on Oline
O on the Dline
Wilson with the RBs
Ball with WRs
Steele is so technically sound and brilliant. He had such a stupid rep because of one bowl game that got ugly. He is also great with linebackers.
Cameron with the O and QBs

and Coach Miles. He deserves so much more credit than he gets. He is constantly coaching to detail. He is a tremendous instructor that often people don't even acknowledge. LSU puts players in the NFL for a reason. Besides the talent, they teach them right. He put this coaching staff together and it was a brilliant move. He was blindsided by Chavis leaving and he was able to hire a guy who is just as good who didn't want to bring in all his guys.. Allowing us to get Coach O.. Such a smart move, hired all the guys with recruiting experience in the SEC.. and it is paying off for the future going forward. LSU always recruited well, but we are looking at a whole other level with these guys going forward! and all these guys are technicians.

Yes some of Steels blitz packages are a thing of beauty.
