Bradie James or Kevin Minter? Two of the best without a doubt.

He was dominant against Bama in November, then followed it up with the same dominant play week after week. His play this year came as no surprise to me. Before the season I predicted, in one thread after another, that Minter would be the best LB in the SEC this year and would be gone to he NFL. It wasn't much of a prediction because he had already done it in the back half of 2011.
Most fans don't notice great play unless it comes with gaudy statistics or else announcers point it out. There are several 2012 players who showed brilliant play or potential, but they're being overlooked just like Minter was. I keep talking about Debo Jones. Most Tiger fans don't realize the superstar we have there. He is a Patrick Peterson level talent. The only guys on our team with that level of talent, IMO, are Collins, Hill, and Anthony Johnson. Also, Landry and OBJ are great players. Everyone on here is desperate for a receiver, but we don't need one next year, I assure you. Jalen Mills is respected here, but he's even better than most realize. Jalen Collins is a fine corner but is regularly overlooked or denigrated here.

To be fair can we even call him a beast? I don't think he even played his entire freshman season. But if he had stay healthy he might have been better than Brooks.

AGREED. He had ALL the tools.

I think Minter will be better but won't know till he is in the league for a few years.
We will miss Minter more than anybody else off of the team next year. Dude was a beast--every game.

Where's the love for Kelvin Sheppard??

Both great LBs, but I really liked Eric Hill's game.

Minter...highly underated. Interested to see how he does in the pros.

James was a better linebacker, he shined longer and was relevant longer then minter.... Dont get me wrong KM was the Sh** but i would give it to BJ by a fairly far margin....

Shep went from "Ryan Perriloux with the special teams tackle" to All SEC LB first team. Had 110 tackles to lead team as a JR and 2nd leading tackler as soph

How about a "who was the better linebacker at LSU" thread? That game has THE oldest box score currently available at LSUSports.net: LINK. Hodson, 15-21, 193 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT Brooks, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 36-yd INT return for TD Arnsparger's scheme for that game appeared to gear most of the tackles toward Hazard & Caston, but not a bad memory, Hoodatt. Player quotes... Michael Brooks, OLB: "I'm very excited. A&M came in doing a lot of bragging. Everybody knows now that we don't have to depend on just our defense. Our offense can now carry the load as well. ... We did a lot of blitzing and we contained the quarterback real well." As for Hodson, not a bad debut for a freshman QB on the road against the #7 team in the country. But that's why he was the only 4 time All-SEC QB in history.
Thanks Doc, but one point of note, that game was played in Baton Rouge. Regarding Brooks' play, he was so fast that on an option play he took out the QB right after pitched the ball then turned around and caught up with the RB and tackled him. (Truth). Also in that game Guidry checked off to a quick slant to Sammy Martin and he split the defenders flying past them for about a sixty-five yard TD. We called Sammy, "White Lightening". LSU was a 17 1/2 point underdog and won by 18. Anyway, I'm off topic, but what a great game!
