Oregon has many different micro-climates. There are snow-capped mountains, hot and dry deserts, flowing rivers, clear lakes, and green forests all within a few hours of each other. Oregon is definitely one of the most beautiful states in the US.

I agree with you. And Portland is one of my favorite cities. But no way could I deal with the winter rain and short days.

Geese, yes.

Ducks, been around a lot of ducks, never heard one hiss.

I wish we had more frozen precip down here in the valley. 20 inches of snow per winter would lighten my mood a little.

Thankfully there is plenty of snow in the mountains. I would go insane if I couldn't escape the chilly rain and get my ski fix.

But yes, your point is well taken.

More microbrews, coffee, strip clubs than anywhere else in America. Grunge music. Gotta cope somehow until summer returns.

Ive been in Dallas all day..I've seen maybe 10 ducks fans, and about 1000 tiger fans. The Oregon fans have looked at me and not said a word, they seem very intimidated. Can't wait til we are in the stadium, they will be so intimidated along with their football team!!

Geaux Tigahs!

It definitely is. But west of the Cascades you have to endure an insane amount of chilly drizzly days. Not that it's a secret. And it does make us appreciate the sunny days that much more more though and I try to remind myself that valley rain makes for mucho mountain snow. I feel sorry for people who don't partake in snowsports. There is no substitute...

Oregon is great for snowsports thats why the US olympic snowboard/ski teams practice up here. Its one of the only places in the world you can ski/snowboard all year round.

Oregon is one of the most beautiful states I have ever seen, but.....how many burned out, brain-fried 50-70-year-old hippies can one state have?
