lived there for 19 years. great town and school. they care more about basketball than football, though i believe they did win a div 1aa title a few years back.

Big Red has been one of my favorite mascots since I walked into the Superdome for the 2001 NCAA tournament and saw this big red blob running around yelling at all the Florida Gator players and fans.

I remember Western Kentucky being one of UNO's biggest basketball rivals during the Tim Floyd days. That's all I got.

you obviously don't know shite.

not to mention it is a night game. Which means I will be able to obtain the optimal level of pre-game lubrication prior to kickoff. Bottoms up...

No Cajunjj never lived in Lexington, but grew up in Baton Rouge, lived in Atlanta for 10 years, and guess what? there are buttholes everywhere, including right here in Louisville, however I choose to take a higher road in life and not focus on those types of people. I just felt the person that wrote basically an "editorial page" trying to rip on WKU & Bowling Green was rude and not necessary.

I'm spent on the subject. Let's get back to LSU football, shall we?

My younger sister is a freshman at Western and she loves it there. Bowling Green is an ok city but most people there will drive the hour down to Nashville if they are looking for a good night out.

Big Red is a great mascot he's nothing more than a red Grimace but I like him more than most mascots. They are also called the Hilltoppers because the campus is built on a big hill.

They were a I-AA school only 4 years ago and are slowly building themselves up. Didn't win any games their first 2 years, won 1 (maybe 2) games last year and have won 4 in a row this season. In fact their very first home win as a I-A school came a couple of weeks ago.

did my masters at wku after graduating from lsu. It's a nice little college town, good sense of community, would be a great place to raise a family. Definitely a Bball school, not nearly the party school lsu is.

Wow, SECBanter, while I'm a huge LSU fan living here in Louisville, KY, your comments about WKU are totally rude and uncalled for.

Even though Baton Rouge is my home (and will always have my heart) my husband & I have lived here for almost 16 years, and KY is full of wonderful people, and while I don't know a lot about Western, I do work with a few folks who went there and they are very nice people.

So, get off your "high horse" and be a little kinder. By the way, if you ever need a spanking brand new Corvette, guess where it will come from???? Right down there in good old Bowling Green, KY, so how's that! As difficult as it may be for you, try to be nice to those who may visit Louisiana. Your arrogant attitude is a little nauseating.

You are reading WAY too much into his post. There is no high horse, no arrogant attitude and not even REMOTELY rude or uncalled for. Read it again with less of a chip on your shoulder and you'll see how wrong you are.

If this was rude and uncalled for to you, then I'm afraid the internet may not be the place for you. Definitely not The Rant.

Very damned arrogant of you. I, for one, care about the game because it will provide me (and probably a few others) with our first opportunity to demonstrate, in person, our appreciation for the team's effort at Alabama

Agree 100%...I will enjoy the hell out of Saturday's game, and take nothing for granted...
