Threw 2 walks in a row and pitch count was somewhere around 25; so he likely wouldn’t have made it through 2nd anyway. Was a good time to pull him.

Mainieri said he told him if he didn’t throw strikes, he would pull him. So he did after the 2 walks

He’s working back slowly. I think he’s being saved to throw this weekend as well.

Hilliard was a strike-throwing machine last season but is coming back from an injury. He's going to return to form. I like him.

Dude: Hilliard is just getting back in the swing of things another two or three weeks will be the telling sign for his season. No summer, fall, or spring practice he will be just fine .

Hilliard isn't going to be treated the same as Hess... Maybe cuz he's coming back from injury.

You been living under a rock or something?
He could have had 12 KS threw 5 innings and he would still get pulled.. They just want to be careful, and I love that.

The announcer said at the start of the 2nd inning the plan was to only pitch him 2 innings max. PM was saving him for the Cal series. He got into to trouble so my guess is, might as well pull him now.

I'm fully aware of the situation with Hilliard, but he wasn't pulled because of pitch count. He got pulled because the walks. My point is, Hess can walk half the team in three innings and he will still be left out there. Manieri has a very strong history of leaving pitchers in way too long. In this instance, he pulled a young man for two walks because he was mad about all the walks in Austin. Let's see what happens Friday, because you know it will be another 4 inning, 105 pitch outing for Hess.
