Highest yards per play vs Power 5 school this season...

In all of college football.

10.3 YPP, just edging out Ohio States performance vs Virginia Tech.

LINK

Second highest output in Les Miles career at LSU, Kent State in 2014 was the highest.

A lot of things opened up late in this game, a combination of Tech's defense wearing down and us not abandoning the passing game like we have seen time and time again.

Harris was allowed to work into a rhythm which created all kinds of holes in the defense for the running game. It was beautiful to watch.

I wanted Les gone, I will not run from that. I fully believed that he is too stubborn to change his "philosophy" on offense. If we bring this kind of approach and balanced/aggressive attack to each game moving forward we will be better as a program than we ever would've been with Jimbo Fisher here, I truly believe that.

I wonder how much Cam being on the field played a part in that? Everything seemed to run a little smoother.

Yards Per Play is a pretty useful statistic that a lot of prognosticators and Vegas linesmakers use in their "power ratings." I would hardly say it is irrelevant.

Maybe irrelevant according to some people's view of Les Miles and his offensive production this season when pushing their narrative.

While that may have played a small role in our offense looking better, TT's defense being LAST IN THE NATION probably played a much bigger role. What we watched last night gives many people false hope that Les will change and our offense will be better.

TT also played some high power offenses this year that produced less than LSU did last night.

Offenses vs Texas Tech 2015

I agree that it shouldn't be taken as some declaration that our offensive philosophy will change next year, but you can not argue that last night's production is irrelevant. Clearly some changes were made, clearly the results were there.

Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Arkansas all played Texas Tech this year as well, none of them matched that production by that specific metric... That was the only point I was trying to get across.

For those who didn't view the link it was also the Second highest yards per play by an offense against any FBS school all season, only outgained by Baylor over SMU.

Miles has proven that when a qb can execute consistently he will let then loose. Jruss, Flynn, combo of Jlee/JJ and Mett were all around top 5 in the sec in pass attempts

We had better offensive production than Baylor and other high powered big 12 offenses did against Tex Tech

Bingo. Coaches use yards per play on offense and defense because it shows the success of each when the ball is snapped and yards per play isn't skewed by the amount of plays ran. Yards per play is considered a pure stat because of this.
