I disagree. LSU would be waiting for Herman and Texas to talk before naming O head coach if Herman were playing LSU. LSU said to shite or get off the pot. I'm not happy with the O hire but I'm glad LSU didn't let Herman dictate how this would play out.
I'm OK with the CEO hire (if that's what actually goes down) if Jimbo and Herman both weren't going to work out (in any shape form or fashion) AND they approach the full-time OC as a search for the next Tom Herman. If there's one really big silver lining here, it's that CEO will be more than happy to have that guy if he can be found and let him do his thing.

From Alleva's point-of-view, if Herman wanted to dictate things then no way. Most importantly, it's a sign, or hint if you prefer, that Herman isn't solid and solid on being at 10yr coach. And LSU has more to offer than TX simply because, and as a coach ONLY because, you have a ready made program with excellent funding (surplus) and recruiting at a high level in a conference that is at the top and looking to stay there versus a 2nd culture change from Mack Brown, a conference in turmoil, a team that lacks across the board players and depth to be conference champs (much less national champs), and recruiting at a level that doesn't promise any relief to that. If UTx's history and brand recognition outweigh those practical matters, to a Head Coach, he is not qualified to run a SEC program.

The only way you could say that Herman played LSU like a fiddle is if we had gone into a bidding war with Texas over him. Apparently, we didn't even try.

Valid point. Lsu has an obligation to ask and lure the best possible candidates to this high level position. However, if they play games and refuse to join the program fully invested then what can the school do? Hold a gun to their head and bring them in by force. Coach O is as good a choice after those others said no.

Les plays LSU like a fiddle a couple times, Jimbo played LSU like a fiddle, Saban beats LSU like a drum.

You Tiger fans back at home really are blind to see that most likely wanted the Texas job and has been talking to Texas the entire time. Texas is a far better job money wise, legacy wise, you get to recruit in Texas and Austin is a much better city than Baton Rouge.

How don't see how Texas has more to offer than LSU. Texas has a far far superior education, you get to live in Austin, you recruit in Texas and every other state, you play in a easier conference and easier path to CFP, Texas Athletics has a war chest with far more money. Guess we will see in 2019 when LSU comes to Austin to play football.
