If the Cougars join the Big 12, Herman is about to get PAID. He'd go from his $3 million annual salary now, to $5.5 million over the next two years, a number which would put him in line with some of college football's highest paid head coaches.

They're not joining the Big 12. Not if Texas has anything to say about it.

look fellas, the money isn't the issue. herman's gonna make over 5mil somewhere next year.

IF UH gets into the b12, i think herman stays because it's "his team". UH is gonna pay him w/e he needs to stay there.

IF UH gets into the playoff, herman isn't going anywhere and he'll get a big raise even if they don't get into the b12.

two things here, we need to hope UH doesn't get an invite and that louisville beats UH this year.

IF i had to bet, i'd go with UH not getting an invite to the b12 and petrino beating houston like a drum.

i think we're good, but let's go ahead and root for the longhorns and the trojans while we're at it.

Will the Big 12 announce the teams that are joining the conference soon?

And it will go back to $3MM in the 3rd year they are in the Power 5. It isn't a permanent raise.

And their path to a Power 5 conference still has some huge hurdles.

Hot new rumor:

The Cowboys are hiring Miles back to complete his vision, Dak's conversion to tight end.

I don't think they're getting into the Big 12. OU, Okie State, and Texas all oppose it. The only way they get in is if they allow UT to build a satellite campus in Houston. Don't see that happening

1. Stop with Houston to Big 12, their is no real gains in putting them in the conference

2. Even if they make the playoffs in Houston this year (I believe they lose to Louisville though), to expect to pay him 5 mill as a Group of 5 coach, continue to recruit better than TCU, Texas, and Baylor, and actually make the playoffs any time again after this year is wishful thinking.

3. Herman knows the clock is ticking. Greg Ward is a senior and despite what people say Ward was actually good before Herman got there. He took over the team midway through the 5th game and finished 67.3% 2010 pass yards 12 TD 7 ints 573 rush yards 6 TDs in only 8 games. What Herman did was took what made Ward great and built his offense around him.

Texas runs that show in the Big 12.

And the LAST thing Texas wants is Houston in the Big 12.

How much will his assistants make? Probably 1/2 of what they would make at LSU.
