Here is an example of the disrespect Reese talks about

First, sorry about yet another thread on the topic, but I think this ESPN article shows exactly what's happening:
quote:

Bidens clarify national champ LSU's White House invitation

[blah, blah, blah...]
Clark set the record for points scored in an NCAA tournament with 191 in six games.
[blah, blah, blah...]

LINK

Setting aside the question of why the loser would get an invite for the first time ever, why is Clark's record setting achievement mentioned, but not Reese's achievement of setting the all-time Women's NCAA basketball record for double-doubles in a season?

When Clark hit the 3 in the first half, we were told on-air she just set the scoring record in the tourney. When Reese got her 10th rebound in the 4th, I didn't catch where they mentioned she set a season record. Why not? Why is one record lauded, and the other isn't?

It's not just Clark's seeming disrespect, but LSU just seemed disrespected all season by the media.

They actually did put a graphic up that showed this.

Also, Reese wouldn’t hear the announcers or see the graphic during the game, so wouldn’t the disrespect be based on something said or done in the court?

They did. Even had a graphic at the bottom recognizing such.

I am shocked that this administration would make such a misstep. Jill and Joe have been absolutely stellar in everything they do prior to this.

No she did not. In fact she wasn’t even remotely close to getting one. Didn’t even get a double double.

Well, it's not in the article. And that's my point - and why I linked it.

Why isn't it mentioned in the article?

So, no one wants to actually address the article linked, and why they left Reese's record out?

Yep.

There were plenty of reasons why that squad felt disrespected:

- At the outset media was aghast at ranking LSU WBB higher than blue blood WBB programs

- Angel Reese not being a finalist for the Wooden

- Getting a shite 3 seed despite having the 2nd best record in the nation

No need to manufacture offense. It's all over now. Title is in Baton Rouge. Just be ready to be the "bad guys" next season.

Your original point was this:

quote:

When Reese got her 10th rebound in the 4th, I didn't catch where they mentioned she set a season record.

But the broadcast did acknowledge it. As for the article you linked, I dunno, take it up with the author, or stop getting bent out of shape and quadruple posting over a dumb ESPN rag. There are other articles out there that do discuss her record if you want to search those, it's not like no one is talking about it or acknowledging it.
