If the winner is not listed on your ballot (i.e. in your top 3), you lose your vote the next year.

(Possible) Grace given to past winners: if the winner is not on your ballot, your vote becomes public the next year(s) - until you get it right…

Look Jayden got in against bias in the Northwest, not being on a team not in the playoffs (which some idiots were using as a poor excuse not to vote for him), and against (I believe) SEC backlash for Bama getting in.

JD was being crapped on constantly (the clipboard comment for example). He's a great representative of the Heisman trophy and I wish nothing but the best for him.

Enjoy the moment

I think the way it’s set up eliminates the voters that have agendas
Now if a group of voters got together and planned to promote one guy at the detriment of another candidate the whole voting process would lose credibility

The only guaranteed voters should be previous Heisman winners.

OP has a good idea. The people acting as if they winner is not one of the 4 best are lying to benefit their preference. That shouldn’t be tolerated.

Different people have different opinions and there is nothing wrong about that. Different people value different things and there is nothing wrong about that. Personally, I think that defensive players get the short end of the stick in Heisman balloting because it is not as easy to quantify their impact on a season as teams tend to game plan to neutralize great defensive players, but many still standout.

For me, I was glad to see the walk-on running back from Mizzou get a single 1st place vote. Against all odds this kid moves up in classification, beats out the recruited athletes at the school and leads the SEC in rushing.

That said, the right man won the award.

Please note: there has never been a Heisman winner who got votes on every ballot and there is nothing wrong with that.

Did they harvest votes again? That should be illegal or undocumented for some of you!

I think y’all are overstating the impact of this.

Here’s how many total votes (meaning 1-3) each finalist received:
- Daniels: 806
- Penix: 776
- Nix: 578
- Harrison: 234

There are 870 voters. If every voter actually submitted a ballot (I assume there are probably at least a few that get missed for whatever reason) then Daniels would have been left off of 64 ballots, Penix left off of 94 ballots, and Nix left off of 292 ballots.
