Honestly I really like the BYU opener. It's a decent early test for this team.

Sorry, but "on paper" Cam's resume is a lot better than Canada's at this point.

Fortunately, we don't have to rely on Cam's "resume" as a basis for making that judgment. We have years of his shity actual performance to go by.

" appears to be a downgrade to some"

LSU went from a coach winning almost 80% of these games with two national championship game appearances to a DL coach whose last head-coaching experience when he was totally Responsible for a program was pretty much a disaster. I don't see how any reasonably minded fan can see that as anything but a downgrade at this time. Who knows, it may turn out to be a tremendous upgrade, but we won't even begin to know that until much later.

You just don't get it do you? On paper O is a horrendous hire and there is no denying that. Yes he upgraded the OC position it appears but that's not that hard of an accomplishment considering the money he was allowed to offer. I'm not gonna sit here and lie to myself and act like O was a solid hire just because he's from Louisiana which is the main reason most wanted him as HC. That's laughable.

An improvement from last year?

On my paper CEO took over a USC team 3 seasons ago that had gone 4-7 in their previous 11 games and was 3-2 on the season with wins over Hawaii, Utah St and Boston College and lead the same players, coaches, everything to a 5-2 record, including a win over the #4 tea, in the country.

On my paper last season he took over a 2-2 LSU team whose only wins were a 3-point home win over 3-5 SEC MS ST and a home win against 1-AA Jacksonville St. An LSU team that was 4-5 in its last 9 games with blowout losses to Ole Miss and Arkansas. He took that LSU team and went 6-2 including a bowl win.

On my paper, since the bowl win he signed the #7 recruiting class in the nation, hired the only offensive Broyles Award finalist as OC, the #1 rated recruiter for the 2017 signing class as RB coach and a New Orleans native as WR coach and retained Dave Aranda as DC.

On my paper it doesn't look like a horrendous hire at all. Looks pretty damn good to me actually, the way he has apparently improved the LSU football program.

CEO could have hired anybody. Les could have hired anybody. CEO went out and hire the only offensive Broyles Award finalist. It is a very good accomplishment that should pay huge dividends for the LSU football program. If he had offered the same money or a little more than he was making at Pittsburgh, Canada probably would have still come to LSU.

I doubt very many people outside of one parish in South Louisiana are glad just because he is from Louisiana and that is not the reason he was hired.

So you make a ridiculous statement about not lying to yourself about him being a great hire because he is from Louisiana and think it is laughable. I agree and don't care what you think.

Sorry my post mislead you. I was only referring to Os resume on paper. I understand Canada has some proving to do but I think he will be an upgrade over Cam just for the simple fact of incorporating the forward pass.

None of those teams were his program , that's what you people don't get. Look at the one time he had his own program . I'll hang up and listen.

I'm not going so far as to predict our over-all record this year, but I agree everyone is very anxious to get this season started. There's a lot to be optimistic about.

I have no expectations. Just going to sit back and watch the season unfold for better or worse.

I hope the new Mike is a cub.

On paper we took a huge step down with the HC but we upgraded big time at OC

On paper... our last coach was a fraud. He could not talk proprly, a con man, could not coach at all, but did make a good hire with Aranda.

O did A LOT more than LM and Cam with Ensminger, they actually scored a shite pile of points with a bad system. Sure we upgraded at Offensive Coord, but we also have in the Head Coaching dept as well

There is a lot to play for. If the win total doesnt exceed 8, LSU should heat up the seat of O. It's as simple as that.

Same here. I'm hopeful every year because I'm a Tiger fan. This year though is different for obvious reasons. I know for sure that we aren't promised a new offense and get the same stale BS from Les and co. We have new innovative and motivated coaches now that will make this team fun to watch. It'll be a fun ride for sure.
