he learned form his predecessor, "Here's the snap, and the kick, it's a beautiful, spiraling, end over end, IT'S BLOCKED!"

I bitch because I'd rather Charlie call the game. I bitch because Jim Henderson is far better at football than him. And not so sure he makes more money than Hawthorn.

Henderson is the GOAT. Not a fair comparison

Haha but he's my only decent football comparison as I'm constantly relying on Henderson over the years when I can't watch live. And he's far more accurate and gives the game info often without missing a snap.

It's comments like this that keep me coming back. Original, sharp, urbane, sophisticated and appropriate.

Tell the truth, you are a professional writer aren't you?

I gripe about Jim on just about everyone of these threads that come up. He is 3 or 4 years past the point when he should have quit. The negativity and constant bickering with his co-broadcast people is just too much to take, even if you can get past the crazy missed calls.

I will give him credit too though for his call of the game today. I actually heard him tell Hannigrif that he was sorry and it was his fault when he interrupted him during a play by play call today. Damn near ran off the road when he did that.

Hey now. Hawthorne belongs in every sports hall of fame we can put him in because he's a legend. It's just time.

As close to being a professional writer as Jim is to being a quality announcer.

But dammit, he loves LSU!!!! He probably wipes his arse with purple and gold toilet paper. He freaking loves LSU. So that means he is great and you can't complain about how he calls games.

This was the common joke that used to be said about Harry Carey when he announced with the Cubs. (Cubs players names substituted for LSU player names).

I personally enjoy listening to Jim call the games and often "have to go for a drive" just so I can listen to him on WWL.

I love Hawthorne, and think he does a great job. Though I could have sworn at one point today he said Chinea rocks and fires as if he were pitching.
