It's embarrassing to read and listen to so many negative comments from college football fans who have so much of their life invested in college football. All organized sports teams of any sport have passionate fans, even in little league. They want their team to go undefeated and if they don't then get rid of the coach, replace the kid who made the mistake, etc. This type of sports obsession will not change soon. When I see a defensive player target, a QB or receiver with a big hit possibly giving an unprotected player a concussion and fans cheer the destructive hit, it saddens me what so many fans have become. The game is about stopping the player with the ball, not injuring them with a hit the player hopes gets on ESPN bringing NFL notice.

As the big programs tell kids their program will get them to the NFL early, we will have the big programs losing their best players after one or two years. Yes, I said after one year cause its coming as paying college players is coming. I think all kids who can't pass a college entrance exam or not want to go to college should be allowed to play in some other type of NFL league. Or maybe just go to the practice squad until they develop. College football programs should be working with athletes who want to play four years and get their education. If a kid does not want an education then don't come to the university to play ball. There's nothing wrong with a player who does not want to go to college and just play football, let them go.

Miss State and Ole Miss have older players who have been playing together longer developing a strong chemistry. Big program teams would be much better having players who don't leave early. You also have the best four and five-star recruits not wanting to risk injury that big program coaches callout in different ways. No young player who has been promised development for the NFL wants their dream taken away by injury.

Face it, the college game is now messed up because of money from the NFL and television. Fans won't change; they want wins every game or fire the coach or replace the player not producing.

The NFL game was much better when players did not change teams and uniforms every season. Watching college football was much more entertaining when it was a team sport and players played four or five years on one team. I turned on the Arizona State vs. USC game on Saturday and did not recognize the ASU team; their uniforms had no recognition of ASU colors I'm use to seeing. But hey, ASU will sell some new jerseys before they change them again next year. I bet college coaches miss just being able to coach players. Now they have to manage so much more than just coaching a game.

I miss paying a few bucks for a ticket to watch a college football game, a dollar for bad popcorn two bucks for a dog with dried out relish and yellow mustard. Do high school games still offer this?

Money fricks everything up. It has fricked up both the NFL and college football I enjoyed as a child and young adult growing up. Corporate greed is the downfall of this country.

I don't know about killing the country but money corrupts everything. College football is a business and it's become an arms race between the schools. It's all downhill from here on.

Once you have the major conferences breaking away and essentially starting a minor league for the NFL, it is all downhill. When you lose the association with the university and the players also being students, it is just a mini professional league with players making substantial salaries. I honestly don't know if I would be interested in a situation like that. Too corporate, too professional. It's primarily why I prefer college football to the NFL. I don't really get very interested in the NFL anymore like I did when I was a kid.
