The odd thing about this play is that the Texas safety would have been able to force Jefferson out of bounds had he not pulled up a bit right before he got to him. Jefferson made to fake to the inside, which would have done no good anyway considering their positioning, so why did he pull up?
I doubt it would have mattered because with a fresh set of downs, 2 1/2 minutes left, and Texas with one timeout, they almost certainly lose anyway.

Lsu was gonna be able to kneel it out even if jefferson gets tackled.
You could argue scoring the td there wasnt the best move for ensuring victory

I remember that game like it was yesterday. Holy crap that 3rd and 17 was pure beauty. My uncle, also an LSU die-hard, had passed away April before the season, and I thought about him every game. Wish he could’ve seen it.
