Per Wilson Alexander:
quote:

Maurice Hampton Jr. will play in center field the next two games, Paul Mainieri said. LSU will also try an infield with Gavin Dugas at second, Cade Doughty at third and Zack Mathis at shortstop.

Gonna be interesting to see how Hampton plays...his batting numbers were real bad in spring

well you take a really bad bat out and replace him with an experiment. I love it.

Surprised it happened this soon knowing Mainieri, but I'd like to see where this goes.

Gio was bad this weekend, guess Manieri figures Hampton gives you some power potential.

Hal has always been on the field because CPM trusted his glove enough to offset the poor performance at the plate. I'm guessing the D this weekend is the reason for the change. Very costly error on a routine DP ball in the 8th inning of the final game Saturday!

It’s almost like he was doing something else until baseball started....

That’s good. I hate the Hughes bashing, but I don’t think he was intended to be the starter for any season so far. It’s just how shite happened. And I’m surprised Hampton didn’t get a start in game 3. I think this team is talented, just might have growing pains. Some kids needs real game at bats under their belt.

Dugas had the worst plate performance of the weekend.

CPM has several players who can play several positions. Now is the time to experiment.

Not surprising. If Mathis and Doughty can give us serviceable gloves on the left side of the IF, Dugas has more potential at the plate. Just hope Dugas can get something going.

At least Paul is finally experimenting with Hal outside the line up. Something he didn’t do the last 2 years.

If for some reason we are a drag defensively then by all means plug Hal back in.

Would it be absurd to try Bianco at 2nd? Just for a midweek or two? He played a little 3rd last year didn’t he? Or am I remembering that wrong?

And not a whisper about CJ Willis
