Gymnastics to Ames Regional

The Ames regional is hosted by Iowa State University. The Tigers will face off against No. 9 Nebraska, No. 16 Denver, Washington, Michigan and Iowa State.

How are these regionals awarded ? Doesn't appear to have anything to do with seeding.

Do you mean how is the host determined? They just kind of rotate through all the Regions teams. Each Region gets a host each year. The Regions are very odd, the SEC teams are in mostly different Regions, for example. As I said in another post, Bama ends up hosting a lot so I wonder if it is because there aren't as many schools in their Region that can/want to host.
Edit: Actually, I just double checked and Bama is in the same region (Central) as LSU and Auburn. So it makes no sense for them to get a host spot so often when LSU and Auburn wait 4-5 years between hosting duties. Maybe things go on I don't know about and LSU doesn't want it but we have the PMAC and have hosted great Regionals in the past, so I doubt that is it.

I think the host sites are really determined a long time in advance. When we hosted a few years ago, we knew very early in the season that we would be hosting a regional. Just glad we don't have an SEC heavy regional this year. You just have to finish top 2 in your region to make championships.

No, Regionals are not until the next weekend (April 4th)
