Look, there's no sugar-coating it, Mizzou is a bad team. But it's still a road win in conf., and it comes at a time where the team could have just mailed it in after some absolutely horrible defensive performances. The defense wasn't good last night, but it was slightly better (Mizzou still missed a ton of open looks). Offensively, LSU is red hot from deep. Hopefully that continues.
Even with the non-conf. troubles, the fist three games of SEC play were ALWAYS going to be very winnable. It sucks that LSU wasted a great offensive performance against Vandy because they flat out refused to defend. Otherwise, they could be looking at a 3-0 start.
Fundamentally, the same defensive woes were there last night (the way LSU defends the pick-and-roll is mind-boggling!). However, some of the fundamental mistakes can be covered up with pure effort. They played with more effort in the second half and Jones, who I give a ton of grief on this board, coached with more energy last night. It was great to see him get fired up when LSU went on their big run in the 2nd half. IMO, he has to do that all game because this team has a troubling tendency to only play hard when they have to.

He really did. All the other things aside, e.g. how terrible Mizzou is and how we still did a lot of the same infuriating things we've done all along, this was encouraging.
