It seems LSU floor is a more dynamic upbeat energetic routine with more risky maneuvers while Oklahoma seems to do a simpler bread and butter type routine. Granted there were a couple of hiccups by LSU but overall it did not appear Oklahoma was that much better on floor. LSU did not seem to get rewarded for the riskier moves. Would welcome insight from those more knowledgable.

There aren't the same rewards for difficulty in NCAA gymnastics as there are at elite. That being said, LSU's floor routines weren't clean at all.

The difference was landings. Every LSU gymnast had errors on at least one landing. OU has less difficulty, but 10.0 start values and more consistent landings.

I will be honest, aside from LSU and maybe a couple of teams, no one else in the country goes for the difficulty that we go for. The problem is in college gymnastics, you only need a certain amount of difficulty to reach a max 10 value, after you reach it you cannot go any higher. Its not like elite/Olympics where you can slam your routines with difficult skills and hope to outscore someone due to more difficulty. College is all about consistency and being clean.

LSU was just a mess on floor tonight, no way around it. When your two seniors and starters completely melted down, it put way too much stress on everyone else

Then why are we needlessly adding difficulty?

I agree there were some rough spots especially Sydney and Zamardi. That being said why does LSU insist on that level of difficulty. They generally don't need it in regular season and it becomes an extra hurdle against an elite team like Oklahoma.

Wonder if there was something to the announcers theories about LSU having a quicker turnaround from yesterday than Oklahoma. Oklahoma sure seemed to have that extra pep in their step which LSU had in abundance last night. Jus t could not land clean on vaults and judging did not compoensate for the other elements of the routine.

Sometimes judges are a little more forgiving when you put in the difficulty, but thats why practically 95% of the country avoids going above and beyond. LSU though has had a lot of success with difficulty. Actually in stages like tonight its beneficial to stand out doing more difficult things, our issue was we completely missed the mark on small things

I don't have a ton of knowledge, but one thing that I do know is that if you don't stick your landings, you have fricked up and will be penalized for it.....that is why LSU is not national champions tonight.

Seriously? That's how you attack a better team. Risk/reward. Not rocket science. OU has been flawless all damn year. We had to go after them aggressively. Loved it. Geaux Tigers.

It's not about team vs team though. It's you vs the judges. You're attacking the apparatus, not Oklahoma. It's not football.

Why take risks that aren't necessary? Oklahoma gets 10s without risking half of what LSU does.

OU was just better on that night. They didn't make the mistakes and LSU did make the mistakes. Congrats to OU they deserve to be crowned champions
