Mills area also has some good spots to eat and drink. Guesthouse, black rooster, pig Floyd’s, East end market, Tor Tori.
I haven’t been in awhile but the woods downtown was always a cool spot with great cocktails.

I love the stretch of Sebastian Inlet, Wabasso Beach and Vero Beach.
Yep. Our go to beach is Walton Rocks on Hutchinson Island. It is quiet, with beautiful water and is an off leash dog park. That's even further south, but close to where I live (Tradition area of Port St Lucie).
A lot of Louisiana folks never venture over to the Atlantic side, so this is a good opportunity. I too, prefer the quieter, less commercial vibe of the Treasure/Space coast. It's too far south for most people to drive down from GA, AL, MS, and LA, and too far north of Miami for folks to drive up. That means no congestion and quiet beaches... Works for me.
Pic of dog on Walton Rocks Beach. Mid morning and hardly anyone around.

Deadwords is a great brewery not far from the Stadium. It's unfortunate Ellipsis shut down, they also made really solid beer.

Publix will have deals on beer all the time, usually local/craft beer. As far as I remember, liquor is sold separately in a different building of most, if not all Publix locations. They're attached to the stores which is convenient, but a lot of shopping centers that I've seen have liquor stores within a stone's throw of a grocery store.
I'll also add that if anyone is near a First Watch, it's probably the best spot for breakfast.

Tibby's is excellent IMO. It's actually in Altamonte Springs (unless there is another one that I'm not thinking of). Got here a lot on my lunch break.
Melbourne is a great call. Not very crowded and only about an hour or so away. Not far from Canaveral. Not sure if there are any launches happening that weekend but usually pretty cool to see.
They are trying to clean up the area between downtown and the stadium but very much a work in progress. Definitely exercise some caution.
Otherwise great tips!!!
DM OceanTiger...I'm around the same age and live in the area as well. Always looking to meet some fellow Tigers!

Thanks for this. Will we have any issues getting alcohol on Sunday before noon, whether it be at restaurants or liquor store?

Bookmarked. We ( wife and I) are still thinking about going. I was hoping ticket prices would go down some closer to the game. We are both in our late 50”s If I go I want a seat with backs not benches

Yes the Mills area (just east of Downtown Orlando that starts at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Mills Avenue) has a lot of good restaurants, including a lot of the really good ethnic restaurants in the area.

You won't have any issues. From what I remember most of the gas stations/Walmart/Publix allow alcohol sales at 9 a.m. Golf course allow alcohol sales at 7 a.m. All the Publix liquor stores that I've ever been to typically open at 10 a.m.

There are two Tibby's in Orlando and one in Tampa. The two in Orlando are in Altamonte Springs (Exit 92 off I-4) and the original one is in Winter Park. I mostly go to the Altamonte Springs one myself as it's right off I-4. The one in Tampa is in Brandon.

United Airlines adding direct flights from BTR for LSU away games
This article made its way into my feed today. Didn’t know if it deserved a thread of its own, but it’s pretty good info for anyone with older folks or those that don’t want to drive, etc.

BATON ROUGE - United Airlines announced it is adding direct flights to select cities for college football fans, including several LSU games Friday. The airline announced the direct flights for three LSU away games, including LSU versus Florida State on Sept. 3, LSU at Ole Miss on Sept. 30 and LSU at Alabama on Nov. 4. Direct flights to Baton Rouge are also available for LSU home games against Arkansas on Sept. 23 and Auburn on Oct. 14. Football fans can book flights online now.

Be smart and do not go to the game…. It’s nothing but a horrible high school stadium and is in a terrible section of town….
Went once and would not go back again ever….

Publix actually has a good beer/wine section in its big stores, along with really good wings and fried chicken and made to order "subs". All very good.
Most of them also have a smaller, separate building that sells all alcohols to allow grab and go for time savings.

If you want a good brewery, go to Crooked Can. Has area for kids to run around, lots of food vendors inside their building, etc.
If you’re looking for good food, you want to go to the Mills District. Anything on N Mills Avenue will be good and at a decent price. Winter Park has great places too, they are just typically a little more expensive than it should be.
Don’t forget, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal starts 9/1. You don’t need to buy both a ticket to the parks and HHN if you want to do just the latter. Typically the earlier you go, the lighter the crowd.
ETA: And don’t forget about going to Rachel’s to get a beef Wellington and a lap dance.

Dont waste your time on Kres Steakhouse. Highly recommended but after eating there I asked the manager over. I complimented them on their service and ambiance and then said "you don't serve prime beef, do you?" He admitted that it was not due to price constraints.
The pricing was definitely "prime" prices without the same quality. If you want a great steak, and are willing to pay the price Christner's is far better IMO. Plus they have an ole fashioned piano which provides great music while you dine. Not as dark & fancy as Kres but a great meal!
Winter Park is a beautiful moss laden treed area with a great downtown and beautiful, little Rollins College situated on a lake(as is much of the Orlando metro area). Downtown WP includes outstanding sushi,Italian, seafood(not like our but still very good), as well as several great places to drink. Check out Blu on the Avenue, Boca, Pannullo's, the aformentioned Prato, The Porch,Ava (greek and a club downstairs), Firebirds Wood Fired Grill.
Also in Orlando -Santiago's Bodega, HillSide, Gringos Locos(3-4 locations small dive, late night spot), Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar(awesome food and hot spot for singles),plus A La Carte Street Food & Craft Beer(5 food truck around a little courtyard with a open air (most time it is opened up) pavillion that serves a rotating menu of domestic and international craft beer).

If anyone is starving for sushi when they come to Orlando, only place you want to go is Kabooki by universal. Not a place for kids, make sure to get reservations ahead of time.

Thank you for the post. Making my first trip to Orlando for this game and looking forward to check out some of the spots you listed.

Where should we go to watch the games on Saturday? I think I have most of my trip planned out but this little detail.
