from press conference today:

Running back Derrius Guice also will not play in the upcoming Troy game due to a knee injury. However, Guice will take it "day-to-day" in hopes of a speedy recovery.

we doing the whole "Guice not playing" thing again?...

I hope so. Williams has been the lone bright spot on this team anyway. Name him the starter and feed him the rock.

I truly hope DG's career doesn't end the way LFs did.

So in other words he'll be cleared on Wednesday.

Let him sit and heal. He is hurt. Don't let it be like LF and have him hurting all year. Gives the other backs reps they need in a game against a non-conference opponent. May need them before it's over the way our O-line blocks.

even if we don't need them this year, we certainly will next year when Guice and Williams are gone. No sense in running Guice into the dirt against Troy.

I remember some guy named Orgeron saying he thought it was great that Guice wanted to play hurt. Oh well....

Guice is hurt. He cant hit the holes when they are there. Williams is slower but isnt having a lot of trouble hitting the holes. Not sure why Brossette never gets any touches...Only the most important one the other night.

Guice has a crap offensive line who isn't opening any holes for him to run through

It sucks that Guice doesn't get to run behind the same line as Williams.

did you not see Guice get his leg folded up in a pile of 5 defenders without any blockers in sight ?

While I dont question Guice's motivation, he was much slower the first two games than last year, before the injury you are talking about.

yes, it was reported he sprained his ankle in fall practice. I don't think Guice just got slower for no reason.

Coming into the season he seemed like a lock to be taken in the 1st. I don't think he is anymore. Talented but looks slower than he did last year. Williams on the other hand has been a huge surprise. Seemed like he was a 5 yards and fall down type of guy. Didn't think he had a shot at the next level. He looks like a future pro.

This.

To see some of the post on here you would think they thought Guice just decided he didn't want to make a run for the Heisman and cost himself a great draft sport just for the hell of it.

And thanks to the admins for deleting some of the garbage in this thread. It's unacceptable to have our fan base saying "fck him" about a college kid who is doing nothing wrong.

He got significant snaps in every game this year that he's played in. Yet I still haven't seen him play. Losing the lead blocker, lack of complex Miles run blocking schemes, injury or whatever else comes to mind...

I don't know what the real reason is, but Guice hasn't looked at all like a Heisman candidate this year. Not. At. All. Williams has run with far more ferocity and determination.

I say the staff needs to not leave it up to Guice as to when he plays or doesn't play. Sit the man until he remotely resembles the player we saw last year. Then turn him loose and let him win some awards and get the high draft slot he wants.
