If LSU gets a new DC, ticket sales would perk up for LSU

Why wouldn't they? It's in their hometown.

You would hope that they sell out their tickets. This is like a home game for them.

You guys should still have more fans there. We average 50k for home games (our stadium holds 55k)...and typically 10-15k of the 50k are fans of our visiting team. So...I would say we average between 35k and 40k GT fans at our home games.

Remember...we are a small school with 11k undergrads and only about 80k living alumni worldwide.

That can't be correct.

i hope any retarded "LSU fan" who actually takes this approach remembers this when they get passed over for a bowl in the future and then turn around and say how well LSU travels for bowl games

that being said, i really don't think there is a significant amount of LSU fans who have no plans to go to the game now, but would change their mins if LSU fired their current d-coord and hired a new one

LSU fans have connections and will probably get tickets from other sources to get better seats. The tickets offered thru LSU are not the best seats in the house.

I went to Peach Bowl back in 2000 and got sideline seats for face value through other contacts. LSU gave me seats in the upper deck that I turned around and sold. Lots of LSU alumni in Atlanta will go through their employment to get tickets also.

Don't let school's sales indicate how many LSU fans are going to the game.

If people remember correctly, we hired Lou Tepper before the bowl game and he coached the bowl. We won and people thought that he was the answer. Once the next season started, people realized differently.

Why rush to get a DC now if it is not sure to be the right one. Take your time to find the RIGHT GUY and not the next available.

we didn't really have many choices. carl reese left LSU to go to Texas 2 weeks before the bowl game

the bowl game is largely irrelevant and fails in comparison to making sure you get the guy you want...especially if he currently has a job. not to mention right now alot of miles' focus should be on recruiting.

While all of this is true, I'd definitely be surprised if Georgia Tech didn't sell way more than was alotted to them.

I would love to drive 30 minutes to see the Tigers play, go back home to do a little drinking, then hit the town at night to celebrate New Year's Eve.

^much better than driving to Atlanta, getting a hotel, going to the game, then retiring to your hotel room to watch the ball drop on Time Square.

We need to sell these freakin' tickets. This matters for future bowl selections. If there is a toss up for a better bowl and the bowl knows we sell our tickets and show up, we get picked.

Actually, I think it is. When I was there 1987-1991 we only had 8k undergrads. The growth in undergrad population is recent. Also, considering the boot out rate, undergrads dont always turn into alumni (well, technically, anyone who attends a school is an alumnus, but I think he was using the more typical "graduate" usage).

I've heard the rap concert mentioned several times. Not busting your chops here, but I think twice about bringing my kids to LSU home games. The behavior of many drunken fans makes me leery of bringing them around. This year a group next to our tailgate was playing some music with absolutely filthy language. I was amazed to see people of all ages 60 year olds down to 10 year olds all dancing as expletives range out from the speakers. It was like they were oblivious to the language. I do understand the concern. I remember at the Carolina game there was a rap concert at the State Fair that night...it was a little sketchy.

I was a little low...see below. Remember that with only 11,000 undergrads you are lucky if you graduate 2,000 per year.

WHERE ALUMNI LIVE
Georgia Tech and University of Georgia alumni whose locations are known to the schools:

GT Alumni in GA- 43,065
GT Alumni outside GA- 52,503
GT TOTAL- 95,568

UGA Alumni in GA- 135,804
UGA Alumni outside GA- 97,196
UGA TOTAL- 233,000

The Advocate article said that LSU's allotment was 15,000. This says GT had 17,500. Don't both schools get the same amount of tickets? With 11,000 already sold, that's better than I expected.

LSU has sold 11,000 tickets so far? That's more than I thought. I'm hoping that we get 20,000 Tiger fans to show, but it doesn't look too promising.
